Iam going to tell you what's up with the M16
and AK47 issue its a issue that keeps going and going, and it seems to never stop remember that individuals worked and saw the need for more lighter weapons Because the fighting changed with the advent of belt fed machineguns thanks to WW1 istead of 800 yard shooting the beltfed and tanks redesigned the battlefield and street fighting got more commonplace the germans love the pistols for streetfighting and subguns were cheap and getting more common well with the advent of the stg44 witch saw a better need fo that type of weapon it was the best of both woulds and provided the infantry more power. well ive fired both fully automatic AK47's and M16 both 3rnd burst and fully auto ive found that the m16 is accurate the ak will fire with anything in it remember too that the com-bloc countries have there tactics we had are's i don't believe for one moment too we lost vietnam because of m16 issue we did not have the firepower they had thats not true its because we had not unit coheasion in the south the arvn troops were too well infiltrated to even try to win that war same with what happen in somalia its not the weapon the reason we lost its the damn politics in somalia no uniformed soldier's
we were fighting street thugs armed with RPG's and grenades and machineguns lose the sight of your mission you WILL LOSE its a matter of time, i served in the army has and infantry soldier i know its easy to lose sight of your goals when politics and politians get in the way. has for the M16 v AK its up to the person or Gov forces to what they need i have both and i love both
if i had to run through a swamp and hide id like to have my AK47 beside me because i know it will fire.

I've owned both. My opinion is to keep the M16 for accuracy, and the AK for reliability.
My M16A2 has stoppages all the time. My AK has never let me down.
Each serves it's own purpose.
Just my opinion.
