CZECH CZ52 PISTOL or TOKAREV TT33 PISTOL

They both fire that awsome 7.62 X 25 CAL load.

SOG has em' listed at around the same price.

I understand the TT33 to be 1911 style tilting barrel. And the CZ52 as a bit odd with a rollar locking stlye.

I like them both, but what do you think?

Russian pistols look wierd to me personally.

I like the TT33 because it is a rather classic design

However a big plus of the CZ52 is that it can take hotter loads like that .223 sabot load (can't remember the producer off hand)

If you want a display gun go TT33, if you want a shooter for saftey reasons I'd go CZ52

I have both.

Personally I like the TT33. Looks neater and take down is easier(alot like a 1911 with barrel bushing). The CZ52 is easy to remove the slide but getting the barrel out you have to fight the rollers and recoil spring(spring goes over the barrel like a Walther or Makarov). And to pull the lock to remove the barrel you're supposed to use the mag floor plate. Becareful it'll bend them.

This is going to be a tough choice. Some freinds and I are thinking about getting a few of these 7.62 x 25 cal.

Just trying to decide which one is the hardest part.

THX to all reply's.

I've had three CZ52s and two Tokarevs. If you're going to use them for plinking, fun guns, w/ self defence as a back up --get the Tokarev; if possible, the Chinese version w/a frame mounted safety. The CZ is an interesting weapon, but very fragile---especially the firing pin. Count on breaking at least one firing pin every 2000 rounds--or one firing pin every 25 or 30 dry fires on an empty chamber. Also, the CZs aren't real accurate. Big tin cans at 15 yds is about it. The Toks aren't a hell of a lot better, but with a Browning design based pistol you can at least do something to improve matters:D

The reason i've had thre CZs is that I was so taken w/the design I kept buying another one hoping it'd be better for accuracy than the one before. Nope:rolleyes:

I read the CZ52's are not even made by CZ but a contract company somewhere???

Yup, a Tokarev, sounds good, eh.

I had a TT33, with the exception of a rust problem it was one sweet gun. The action was very smooth and it seemed very rugged. I plan on picking another up if possible.

You can't go wrong with either one. It's a very powerful cartridge.
