The prototypes “BIZON”

On these photos you can see the different prototypes “BIZON”. It has made Viktor Kalashnikov (son Michail Kalashniov) - my good friend in Izhevsk.

I participat in test of some these prototypes. We tested(experienced) new mags and device for a decrease of a sound of an outrigger boom. This the present pleasure - to use BIZON. This very precise and good weapon.

You know the rate of fire on the Bizon? What distance does the rear sight go up to?

Rate of fire: 650 - 700 rpm

Fiberglass reinforced polyamide 64 round helical-type magazine

Operation: Unlocked blowback. Semiauto and full auto fire modes.

The rear flip type sight with protective ears, has two open sqare notches with 50 and 100 meter elevation settings (of course this isn't the leaf sight you see in some of the photos.)

Cool! Where did you find that info? Know of a picture of the internals?

Peter G. Kokalis

"Firing from the closed bolt position (to enhance the weapon's accuracy potential) by means of unlocked pure blowback, the Bizon has several unusual features."

"The pinned and riveted sheet-metal body is essentially that of the AKS-74 with the front end chopped off and modified, as there is no gas system. The usual noisy AK sheet-metal selector lever is located above the trigger on the right side of the receiver. The upper most position is "safe" and in this position the lever physically impinges against the bolt's integral retracting handle to block the bolt's rearward travel while a projection on its shaft blocks the trigger. The middle position (marked with a cyrillic "AB") provides full auto fire and the lowest position places the mechanism in the semi auto firing mode.

..That is the most logical sequence, because sweeping the selector lever downward under stress will invariably place it in the bottom, or semi position. thus the operator must consciously move the bar back upward to obtain full auto fire. ... the Bizon's trigger mechanism is exactly that of the AKM/ AKS-74, which is, in turn, based upon that of the U.S. .30 M1 Garand rifle."

how are the rounds arranged in the horizontal mags exactly? is there an internal diagram of the bizon mags somewhere?

"how are the rounds arranged in the horizontal mags exactly?"

Its a 'spiral' setup like a Calico
