Hello. Due to the House's action to seperate the gun control elements from the Juvenile Justive bill into its own freestanding bill, the odds of it passing have gone down exponentially. What this means is, instead of having gun-control bundled with the Juvenile Crime bill, it's going to have to stand or fall by itself as a seperate gun-control bill. Politically, what this means is, a Representative can vote for preventing Juvenile Crime but against Gun-control. The liberals are screaming because they know they have little chance of overcoming the Republican majority and conservative Democrat pool that will vote for Juvenile Crime prevention but not gun-control. We might actually hand Klin-ton his first major gun-control defeat. Let's keep our fingers crossed and calling our rep's. If you haven't already done so, give them a call. You can get their numbers from www.congress.gov (http://www.congress.gov) and searching for your Rep's website that usually has their office number listed. We have a better than average chance of defeating the gun-control bill, so now is the time to call. Vote George Bush Jr., President. He has a pro-gun track-record.

Ok, Tinman99, You seem to know what's going on, so would you please help me with this issue.
The gun bills were separated from the "juvenile crime" bill, right? So what happened to the gun bill? Did it pass? Did it fail? Are they going to try to have another vote on it again? Is the gun bill going to go to a committe now? Did this bill contained the Feinstein and Lautenberg amendments?
Please help me, so I'll now what to say when I call and write my reps, because I am really confused right now.
Thank you,
Johannes

What happened today is the House defeated the Juvenile Crime bill gun-control provisions without also defeating the Juvenile Crime bill's get tough on gun-offenders provisions. What does this mean? It means that when the House and Senate committee's meet to resolve the differences between their respective versions, only the provisions that passed both bodies will go to Klin-ton for his signature. There is the thinest chance that the committees will try to resurrect the gun-control measures by sub-committee wrangling. An overwhelmingly good chance though the gun-control measures are dead. What does the future hold? Well, so long as we either control Congress or have Bush Jr in the White House, we keep our eyes open for new attempts to legislate gun control issues and contact our rep's and the leaders of the House and Senate rules committees and judiciary committees, voicing our opposition to future bills. The Democrats are BOUND to make another attempt, however, that means they have to introduce legislation where it is then bound over to committee's where it will likely die. The odds of any legislation making it through after the emotion of the moment from Columbine is over... until the next time some little jerk gets a gun and blows the school bully to Kingdom come. Then the Democrats are gonna scream and holler, "We told you so, you dirty so-n-so's." The war isn't over, just this battle and we won this one... or maybe not... Like the Serbs that kill, maim, destroy, and hurt civilians out of spite as they leave Kosovo, you can expect Klin-ton to find something he can Executive Order out of existence from shear venom for being dealt a blow. This man believes in power at any price. He's Sadam Husein and Slobidan Malosovic all wrapped up in his undying devotion to keeping his hold on power in the face of unconscienable acts, and in time he may even be indicted for high-treason. There's a reason Willy got all that money from the Chinese and turned a blind eye when the espionage was discovered. Too much of a coincidence, I say. The Chinese might have been spying under Carter, Reagan, and Bush, but I doubt they'd have pretended it wasn't happening when it came to light. I smell a traitor, serial rapist, pathological liar, adulteror, purgeror, and a litany of other crimes sitting in the Oval Office. Register, vote, write your Congresspersons, even if they're liberals, write the conservative members in your state even if you don't live in their districts. It does make a difference! Join the NRA, join GOA, never get too comfortable in thinking someone else will protect YOUR rights.
BTW, the Lautenberg and Feinstien measures are by all bets dead as well. Guess they'll have to go back to committee and flounder like they have for years... Or until another shooting makes the socially flacid think what the media wants them to again.

What amazes me is that Feinstein is still around. I've seen her numerous times on C-SPAN and can say she is one bitter woman. Who votes for a bitter powerhungry hypocrite (I kept the description of her toned down alot) like her anyway?

What happened to the hi-cap mag ban that was proposed? Did it pass? If it didn't, I'm going to mop up as many of those 30 rounders as I can before they do.
