Right now 60% think that banning guns violates individual rights, 21% think banning guns is a bad idea and a mere minority of Clinton brainwashed idiots think guns should all be rounded up at 19%. If the polls say it then why does not congress see the light, I'll tell you why- two weeks ago some voter survey people called my house asking for a female registered voter. I thought that seemed odd but I just so happen to have my girlfreind over so I handed her the phone. They asked different questions but at the end they asked "do you think that children should have access to guns," "do you think that tougher gun laws should be made to prevent children from getting hurt with guns," and the icing on the cake-"do you think assault weapons should be in a home that children could have access to them." She basically got pissed off at this blatant bullshit use of polls and said "children don't own guns and should not but I do and it is my right so quit trying to take my guns just to save all the bastard children, and as far as assault weapons- well when I do have kids I'll be sure they shoot them on a regular basis. Tell Clinton to take his poll and *$#% himself with it!" Then she slammed down the phone and started laughing-looked at me and said "God they are bullshit!" I just was surprised mainly because she never really gets pissed about this kind of stuff and she only owns a little .38 I bought her for Christmas last year, but I guess I am starting to rub off on her.

Is it not mandatory based upon current legislature that any home with children present MUST lock firearms in a safe?
We own mainly rifles, (no handguns-at least not yet) including a MAK-90. All guns are locked away around the clock, with the safe keys worn around my husband's neck. My oldest is 4 years old and has been going shooting with us since he was a year old. This is the way I look at "protecting" children from firearms. If you own a gun, any type of gun, you had better teach your kids firearms safety from day one. I can assure you that my children will never try to unlock our safe, let alone pick-up a gun & point it towards someone. I truly believe that if allowed to participate (at my children's age they can just watch), the curiousity factor (which is why most children go looking & play with guns) will just not be there. When your parents told you not to touch something without providing an explanation, did this not add fuel to your fire of curiousity? Young children must be shown in a tangible way (hearing, seeing) why they are not allowed to touch something.
At least in my experience, when a young child hears the blast of a shotgun, or is allowed to view the power of an AK, it sinks in very quickly that these are not toys to be played with.
Our gov't is in for a fight if they even think about barring guns from homes with children-whatever type of guns they may be.
It is our responsibility as parents to keep our children safe, not the government's.
I think my husband & I are doing a good job.

Bill and Hillary think everyone is a child.

I personally beleive that the only reason all these new child saftey laws came about is because people were not as fired up over Gun Control, but as soon as someone makes it looks as if these new laws are set up to protect the children then you have a bunch of idiots standing behind it. You are right Kmiltier, children learn by watching not by being told. My father taught me how dangerous guns were by placing a watermelon on top of a bucket. He first said for me to try and punch a hole through it, I was to small, then he took a .357 with hollow points and blew the thing away. I never was curious or wanted to use a gun in the wrong way from that day forward. It was a simple lesson but really effective.

Hello Destroyer,
Once again thanks for the link.
My children have been around guns from day one and my wife and I have never used trigger locks.
We do keep certain guns locked up in our safe but we also keep certain guns availible to all members of the house in case of an emergency. Our kids are trusted around weapons and they are fully trained in their use.
Take care and keep up the fight!
OUT in Vegas.
