Full Auto Type 56 at show

For anybody who might be interested, a dealer at the gun show in Ft Lauderdale this weekend had a very new looking, Chinese AK-47 (Type 56) for sale. Finish was excellent and had very good looking, light colored, wood furniture. He said it wasn't a conversion but was a Vietnam bring back. However, he didn't have the papers to prove it since he said the guy he bought it from wanted extra $$$ just for the papers. He wouldn't let anybody touch the thing so I wasn't able to get a look at any of the markings. Asking price was $8500!

A couple of other dealers who are friends of mine all agreed that his price was a bit out of line since he couldn't prove it really was a Vietnam weapon.

id believe he is lying to you. one is it stamped or milled iam not totally positive
forshure about this is most AK47's in vetnam
at that era were mostly Milled recieaver's
also another signed is he will not let you
look at it also the paper work was such, and such, extra misplaced. id bet he's lying to you. that does not mean it did not, or there
were not any stamped recieaver's in nam but
for what he said id becareful he's lying to you.

I had no intention of buying the thing, I just thought it was interesting. Being a Vietnam combat vet, I'm real skeptical about so called "bring backs" unless they have paperwork to prove it. There's another guy who has been trying to sell an SKS as a Nam bring back for over a year now. It's a real rusty, nasty POS and there's no paperwork for it either. Want's $400 for it and from it's condition, I'd be afraid to shoot the thing

Hell, I can take an SKS, throw it out in the back yard for about 6 months or so to "age" a bit, then dust it off and call it a "Nam bring back". Yeah...that's the ticket! Sell it for big bucks too! There's suckers all over out there.
