Otherwise, I would be getting a whole lot less practice:(
One of these days I'll have one of these .45s everyone is always talking about;) Untill then the .357 SIG will have to do.

Although Im not very fond of 9mm the Hi-power is the 1911 of 9mm's.;) One of the best pistols made,I own one. What ya expect for a John Browning design? It was really the only Hi-Cap pistol of its time.:D Rew you wont be displeased. They fit in a hand like they were molded for it.:D

Rew,

If you're like I am you're going to end up with a nasty scar on that fleshy web between thumb and index finger from where the hammer bites you.

Don't get me wrong, I like Hi-Powers in general. But, if I was gonna buy another 9mm I would buy a CZ-75B. Or better yet, a CZ-75B in .40 Short&Weak. The CZ-75 doesn't bite flesh, can be used SA or DA and, if you so desire, can be carried cocked and locked.

Don't know what you paid for the clone Rew, but here aboutws the CZ75-B in 9mm is going for $380 with a 15 and 10 round magazine included.

I presume he bought an FEG.I have one.One way you can eliminate Hammer bite is to install a bobbed hammer. Most the current FEG's(Pjk-9HP's) have these on them new in the box.Mine does.I to like the Cz75.Had a I had a bit more to spend this month I would have bought one.

Regards,

The spur, bobbed or otherwise, is not what bites, me at least.

I use a high hold on all pistols and the web between index finger and thumb actually gets pinched between the frame and the back of the hammer. The result of beefy hands and not enough beavertail!

about a CZ75, I owned one in Germany for awhile. The thing is even when I carried a P9 on duty I never used the double action feature. Either I carried empty chamber which was how we were supposed too, negating the DA altogether, or hammer down on a live round but I always cocked the hammer for the first shot. I will have to put in a lot of time with this pistol before I ever carry it for protection, and would probably still feel better with a revolver. I just happen to be lucky enough to have a friend close by with an FFL that is not into ripping people off. The wholesale price at SOG is $200. I have the dies, I have the molds and plenty of Unique, so what the heck:D. If it does bit me, there is a certian Deputy that says he'll take it:p

why must the 9mm be hated this much, the guy on the other end hates the 9mm as much as the 45 and with the right bullet and typicaly more of them, 8 to 15 in most cases it does quite well, for most people who have a gun its for the home and even with a good thick coat on a double tap to the chest will do the job i just dont see the need in most cases for the the 45

for the record i do love my 1911 but with good jhp ammo it dosent work so i use my baby eagle

I own 3 nine's and I am not ashamed. g19, 92fs and a cz85. I am a big fan of 9's because they are inexpensive to shoot, high caps readily available, and like i800psyco said , they other guy is just as afraid of a 9 than a 40SW, or .45, .357. I guantee you if you were looking down the barrel of a .22 and you were unarmed you would be a little afraid. I know I would.

So do not be ashamed of owning a 9mm, be proud that in this great country of ours you can own one.

friends here, it is well known that I am a big bore revolver fan;) . And in auto-loaders, I have trained with M1911s for about 16 years before being forced to switch to the M9 as a duty weapon, of course I was also forced into a HQ slot at the same time. To old troopers the 9mm is a running joke, most of us cut our teeth on a .45. Nothing really wrong with the 9mm, heck I carry a .38 nowadays, but we do still joke about it. No harm intended. BTW AK, your right, it fits my hand like someone designed it for me. I hope to fire it this saterday, I have been handleing it a lot just to get used to it. Seems funny with no cylinder turning.

Hey Rew I'm still gnawing and have been gnawing since 1960 on my 1911A1 Government Models, along with my Sigs in 45 ACP as well..

Unfortunately for me I have been told by my Orthopedic Surgeons that if I want to save my shoulder from any more loss, since I have about 25% use of it now I should only shoot in self defense they recommend a lower caliber. I said I guess I could drop down to a 44 Mag and if need be a .357 Mag, they were not amused. I said okay a 38 Special +P, again not very amused. Then he told me straight out you will not get no more use out of the left shoulder as it has been a year ago this past December that I have had the surgery to remove 3/4 inch of bone and part of my muscle from an injury that happened in the Army over thirty-four years ago. Then mentioned to me that my right shoulder is getting bad from taking up the slack of the left shoulder. I have some EX-Army Friends that I served with, we would get together on a weekend and head for the Hook and Bottle to get some shooting in with our 1911A1s that were stored in the H&B. Hell some weekends we would spend all day there until dark then go in for a Brat and German Mustard and Beer, bragging who out shot who, and that battle has never been resolved, most likely never will. Any way we keep in touch via E-Mail and the 4 of them all made the switch over to the 9mm because of injuries as well from the Army. They tell me to give up the trusted 45 ACP and save it in your memories and get the Baby 45 (9mm).

I might do that since I can only shoot one handed now, but I will have you know I just certified with a Sig P245 hitting 91% of my target hits in the Kill Zone (chest), and 100% Head Shots at a CCW Course. Not too bad for an old crippled up Disabled Veteran, but the Rangemaster said this is not you, you are a 100% in each catagory and told me where I missed when I shot two shots just to right of the heart when my left shoulder drop feel a bit of pain then where I hit trying to recover with two in the neck

If I decide to get a arg %$^& 9mm it will most likely be a CZ of some sort.

Good Luck my friend

Don
