Are these any good? I did a newsgroup search and found one guy who said they were junk.

These are 30 rds and are smoked plastic.

You are better off spending your money on USGI mags . The only good thing about them is that they will work in a Ruger Mini 14 also so if you own both types of guns you can swap mags . Not to mention you won't grab the wrong mag for which ever gun you grab in an emergency .

I finally got these, the bands dont seem strong enough for 30 rds. They seem better for 20 or so. Hey at least they look cool.

USGI only, I have a guy that will sell you them in bulk, 110$ for 10 mags in great condition, email if you're interested.

You have to wonder if these non-USGI mag manufacturers ever tried putting one of their mags in a rifle, let alone actually test firing one? Why did they bother?

Well, they go by the old philosophy "there's a sucker born every minute". I haven't found a non USGI mag yet that will hold up. You can get brand new "in the package" GI mags for $25-$30, and good used ones considerably less. The only way to go in my opinion. :p
