Hey guys,
I'm very ignorant about all of the AK variants and the subtle differences (i.e. Chinese, Russian, Pakistani, etc.). Why do Americans sweat all of these importation bans? What's to stop an American gun manufacturer from making the same EXACT products. For example, why doesn't an existing manufacturer or a new company crop up and start making quality guns like the UZI, HK-MP5, AK-47 and mags, parts, and accesories to go with them (this includes ammo.)? I mean, we're the most powerful nation on earth and we're so dependent (at least us gun nuts http://www.ak-47.net/akcgi/smile.gif) on other countries for our toys. Am I overlooking something?

There are USA made Aks being made right now. Hesse is making one and another company is making a SLR-95 copy..my problem this is that the Hesse Arms Model 47 would be around 700 for most people to get..they are no better than a Norinco MAK-90 with a USA parts kit on it. The SLR-95 copy is a good deal though 600. But they are still post-ban..no bayo-lug or threads.

hesse is also making a HK-91 but its junk from what i hear..and their FAL clone is junk to(made on their reciever)

A company called Special Weapons(correct me if i'm wrong) they are making the whole HK line up but they are still alot of money. And they are STILL post-ban! NO threads or bayolugs..

Thats my problem with USA made rifles..The AR-15 line was affected the same as the 1989 ban. It didn't matter that they were made in the US.

Thats what i think anyway

It's about freedom and the Constitution. My rights ARE being infringed. I saw the writing on the wall about eight years ago and acted then (thank God!) when prices were still reasonable. I had to laugh at some gomer who was excited about buying a beat up Vietnam era AR15 for $900(he thought he had gotten a good deal), these are the same people that stuck their noses up at this same gun when it was going for $350 four years ago. What's happening is these people are starting to realize too that the sun called "freedom" in this country is about to set. My guess is you won't see American made AK's on the market for much longer either, within the next five years most semiauto guns (with the exception of things like Browning BAR hunting rifles) will probably be banned/registered/confiscated (due to various fed and state laws) even with a Republican President in power.
