I read the 8x scope offered by Interordanance and others doesnt have the tritium feature, whereas the 6x do..
Is this accurate?
Is the 6x with the tritium feature more desirable than the 8x w/o?
Thanks
Tritium? None of the scopes have that feature. The early ROMAK-3/PSL's came with a tritium powered 4x scope but the tritium was dead. All scopes offered these days are powered by batteries. You just have to ask yourself which magnification you prefer. 4x is fine for shooting out to 300 yards, some would say it's fine for twice that distance. It's really just a personal preferance. Your field of view will be smaller with a higher magnification but for general target shooting it doesn't matter.

the very early lot of ROmak 3 actually came with the original Scope made by IOR Valdada in Rommania! Those scope are PSO-1 type which is 4x and comes with Tritium illumination. NO battery power. Those scopes are so much clearer in terms of optics quality compared to the Russian PSO-1 or 2 s!
Unfortunately, the currrent importer must have imported and slap in the cheaper Russian scope! :(

I have the 8X battery powerd scope, LED instead of bulb,so batteries last a long time.
I have no complaints. It doesn't even need focusing, about 20 yrds to infinity it's fixed focused and quite clear.

I ordered mine from Tantal.
I have the 3x9x42mm and the 8x42mm
The 3x9 is auto range adjust which is a neat feature, Both are powered by AA. the 3x9 has a dual illuminated retical and the 8x42 has a single range finding retical.
The bad thing about the 3x9 if you set it up to meters at 300 meters you start at 3x power if you want the autorange to work properly. Check out Tantals site he has a good explanation on there on how the scope works and how to site it in..

The tritium in my Century Arms PSL is just fine, scope is dated 1998. I have another that is dated 1991 and it still glows a little. Salesman at Century called a few weeks ago and told me the current PSL’s have Romanian scopes, not sure if their tritium.http://www.gunboards.com/forums/Public/Uploads/Post-1-1382-16828117.jpg

I have to go with Don F. on this one. The Century Imports have the Industry Optik Romania scopes. Valdada is the last name of the person who sells them here in the USA.
The Romanian 4x PSL scopes are superior to the Russian scopes and everyone I have seen have tritium that glows. The early Valdad imports hade tritium on both models but that came to an end.
Either way the Russian Scopes should be an improvement for the visually impaired over 39 crowd. The prices are so low why not?
The rifles imported by Intrac all have the PSO scopes from Russia as they save money that way on the Romanian Scopes.
Chris is correct either way you'll be fine.
