OK, here we go .........On AK-47.net's home page in the "REVIEW' section under "AK-47 AND VARIANTS" I read about POLY TECH LEGENDS,and would like to know where the hell this information came from, and who wrote it. It says that some POLY TECH LEGENDS had problems with soft receivers and that the receivers tend to break apart after about 2000 rounds are fired. What a load of BULL SH#T!!! These receivers are made from a "FORGED,AND MACHINED BLOCK OF STEEL,THAT IS THEN HEAT TREATED"!!!...They are not made from a "FORGED,AND MACHINED BLOCK OF CHEDDAR CHEESE THAT IS THEN HEAT TREATED"!!! BREAK APART AFTER 2000 ROUNDS??? The person that wrote this makes it sound as if "Chunks of Receiver" start flying after just 2000 rounds are fired! This is a load of CRAP!!! Where do they tend to "BREAK APART"? Also under "AK-47 AND VARIANTS" I read that MAADI MISR 90's (HI-CAP)are built of imported parts on a U.S. RECEIVER. Please correct me If I am wrong but I thought they were built on a EGYPTIAN receiver. If they are U.S. receivers who makes them? Thanks in advance for any aswers. Joe out.

Joe,
Yor are correct, Poly Tech AK's are excellent weapons that will last just about forever. The review wasn't written clearly. The problem (and the bad rap) came from some guns that B-West put out. While they did import and sell complete AK's from Poly Tech, they also built up guns on their own receivers using imported parts. The receivers they used for this were crap and did fall apart after a while. Real Poly Techs never had that problem. In case you don't know, Poly Tech also builds stamped AK's (I have one) but, like you said, the Legend is milled. Stamped guns should hold up just about as good as the milled ones. Millions of AK's used by armies around the world have proved that.

You're also correct about the Maadi AK's. They do have an Egyptian receiver with a conglomeration of imported and U.S. parts and are assembled here.

CAV Trooper, Seeing that alot of new people read these forums, and make purchases based on the information provided on this web site, wouldn't you agree that the "AK-47 AND VARIANTS" section (not to mention some other sections) needs some serious repairs? When your new at Ak's (not me) and you read contradicting information It tends to make people roll their eyes and say,"What information is correct?,What do I believe?" I know that B-WEST built CRAPPERS are the ones with soft receivers but it shouldn't be under the "LEGENDS" (milled receiver) listing! When it comes to MAADI MISR 90s someone might be needing the information do to U.S. parts count or whatever (922r),and get screwed up ,or over screwed over do to this incorrect information.IF INFORMATION IS UP FOR ALL TO SEE,WHY NOT MAKE SURE ITS CORRECT? IF YOU DON'T HAVE TIME TO DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME,HOW ARE YOU GOING TO FIND TIME TO GO BACK AND FIX IT AGAIN? Agree? Joe Out.

POLYAK..."YOU ARE CORRECT SIR"!!! POLY TECH's ROCK!!! I do however think that the WANNABE WEB MASTER should start doing a bit of PROOF READING for correct information! This is the same thing(but on a much, much smaller scale, and not done intentionally I'm sure)of what the stupid ,ignorant, and controlling MEDIA does (INTENTIONALLY,AND ON A LARGER SCALE) when it comes to our guns and gun control!!! It seems that in todays day and age the average person believes everything HE/SHE reads or see's on (news) TV. What a shame!!! Joe out.

Lets not rip the webmaster as he is working with info that he was provided. He has asked for updated info on the various Poly Techs, so write up a review on yours and send it in. It is old information that definitely needs updating and to only give a Poly Tech a 3 rifle rating and an SLR-95 a 4 rifle rating, c'mon. Give the Poly a 5 rifle rating. Comparing the overall fit and finish of the Poly and the SLR is like comparing a Lexus to a Chevy.

Last month the webmaster had a notice on the main page for people to send in pictures and personal reviews of all the Poytech models so that he may update the Polytech review.

I have a stamped Polytech also, and the rifle is one of the best fit, finish and accurate AKs I've dealt with.
