View Full Version : Norinco with polytech features

I just acquired a pre-ban Norinco that has several poly-tech features (combo tool in cleaning kit, folding spike bayo, spring loaded firing pin). The gun is a 7.62 and the bolt, carrier, and gastube are #'s matching. The serial # is VERY low (in the low 1XXX's with only 4 numbers). The only markings on the gun (besides the serial #'s) are the importer marking on the left rear of the receiver (GSAD MANH. BEA., CA) and the words "NORINCO 7.62mm CHINA" behind the front sight/bayo mount assembly, and the rear sight block is stamped "2" on the left side. Can anybody shed some light on this mystery AK?

Norinco absorbed Poly Tech some time ago and they used up the parts inventory to build rifles under the Norinco name.

Thanks for the reply, tampstick http://www.ak-47.net/akcgi/smile.gif. I was aware that some post-ban Norinco guns are built with PT parts (I have a MAK-91 built on a PT receiver), but I have never seen a pre-ban with combinations of the parts. I guess the question is when did Norinco and Polytech combine their parts inventories (actually both are dummy corps. and subsidiaries of China Sports, Ltd., also a dummy corporation). The gun's barrel is also a little bit heavier than most that I have seen, but is the standard 16.5" length.

Norinco and Poly Tech are dummy companies set up to sell the Peoples Republic of China guns and ammo to us American Capitalist Pigs.
How many import applications would have been approved for guns and ammo from the Peoples Liberation Army of the Peoples Republic of China=0
Chinese guns and ammo imported from Communist China from Norinco and Poly Tech sounds alot better huh?

I'm glad that somebody knows what I'm talking about, STEEL CORE. I guess this means that I'm not crazy! I wonder how many of these guns were imported. Does yours have the same importer mark? Sounds like you have a pretty rare gun. The dealer that I purchased mine from said that the guns were very rare (I have never seen another NORINCO with the folding bayo). Did you say yours had the folding stock, too? Strange, man.

DAMMIT!! Just when I thought I had it all figured out, I noticed something else. On the top of the barrel, in between the front retaining bracket for the lower handguard and the rear sight support, the barrel is stamped (going from muzzle side towards receiver) 2212. There is also a number 4 on the right side of the barrel between the rear sight block and the reciever. These numbers do not conform to anything in the serial #. WTF?? Now I'm totally confused http://www.ak-47.net/akcgi/confused.gif. Does this mean that the barrel is not original?? There is also a number 2 stamped on the bottom of the gas block. If China Sports really wants to prove himself, he should answer this question!!! I think I'll tell him to take a look.

SELECT-FIRE, I don't really think I have a credibility problem, but here goes!
The barrels used on chinese AKs are made at, I believe, 3 plants. It may have changed, and may be more, because i havent checked in a few years. To me, that 2212 or whatever the number was sounds like a lot number. It could be a serial number but I highly doubt it, as I've personally never seen a gun marked with a serial number on the barrel that was a chinese AK. Sounds like a lot number from a barrel lot. I can try to find out what the numbers are there for, but it could take a long time, or could never happen considering China Sports is such a large front.
Also, it could be simply parts that were fitted together. Don't forget that, in reality, PolyTech and Norinco are one in the same. Could just be a barrel from one factory with other parts from others and then fitted at one place. Most chinese guns are fitted by hand, best guns a bowl of rice can buy. Lots of slave labor. Its pretty hard to plot against your government when you work in fields durring the day and make weapons at night.

I've been to the Norinco factory which is north of Peking. The happy proletariats don't work the fields with the peasants in that workers' paradise.
I only got to peek into one factory building and the room was filled with lathes. No CNC lathes but old fashion types that we had in Jr. High.
More seriously, those commies charge up the yin-yang to shoot their full auto weapons over there. They know many foreign visitors (especially the Japanese) aren't allowed to shoot full auto, so they charge.

Thanks, China Sports. I was just kidding about doubting your credibility http://www.ak-47.net/akcgi/smile.gif.

Yep, last I recall they charged $20 to fire off a 30 rounder from an AKM. Quite pricey, but tourists will pay it!

CS, any idea about the year of import? How early in the import history? Is GSAD still in business?
best wishes,,,,,,,,,

Anyone have a pic they could post of either a pre or post ban Poly. A close up would really be nice. You have to be very careful when buying these days at local gunshows. Most of these guys are honest but some aren't. Prices vary as much as $300. I realize this is a business and some people pay their bills with profits made at these shows. Good shooting Cliff M.

Select-Fire: I had the exact same rifle that you now have, the marking were identical and it had the copper hued hammer, just like a Polytech. My rifle also had very dark brown wood on it. It had the same importer stampings. I sold my rifle back when the assault weapon hysteria started for $600.00 and took that money and boght a NIB Polytech Legend that looked just like the gun that I sold except the Legend had a forged reciever. You have a darn good gun and I wish that I had mine back but I effectively turned mine into a new Legend which was a good deal.
