Looking good man. I have an almost identical brake on my ssg97, they rock. Mine was for an AR , but with a little work, it fit and worked just fine. I silver soldered mine on.

that is sweet.......I'll soon have the soviet wood on mine, it's on it's way here from where my rifle was born....the motherland :D

I looked at my front end and there really isn't that much free space from the front sight to the end of the barrel to make the threads......how did you do it? just looking at the front end, it looks like there is a "sleeve" over the barrel.....or are my tired old eyes deceiving me?

The MB is from Dragunovparts.com (http://www.dragunovparts.com/) the web site has close up pics of the brake. It is held on by 3 set screws, When you order the brake, they insist that you measure the muzzle diameter so they can custom machine the area that slips over the muzzle for a nice snug fit. I drilled small dimples in the muzzle area under the brake set screws to help secure the brake. I haven't tried it out on the range yet, so I'm not sure how the brake will perform.

sfc ret- that sleeve is actually part of the FSB. Check with "PeeWee", he cut his off and threaded his barrel in 14mm LH. ( i believe he had to turn down the barrel underneath just a little too in order to get the dies to thread) The hanguards are being refinished by Wayne Morgan so that they more closely match the buttstock. Now if i could just find a SVD front sight hood I'd be happy.

she's a beauty mack, looks right at home in all that snow, I wounder if that break will help with accuracy?I know you have to be chomping at the bit to get her to the range! There is a pic of mine in the "dragunov family portrait" thread w/ the airsoft f/h

Looks very nice mack8384. Looks like its twin brother now with the wood handguards. I need some sort of muzzle attachment though. How has the airsoft FH worked under firing conditions PeeWee?;)

I'm going to leave the brake removable for the time being untill i can do some comparison accuracy testing at the range. I just recieved my FH from airsoft. Not sure if I want to turn down the barrel yet to install it. I think i'll experiment with the brake for awhlile. Then if I decide to thread the barrel i can make up an adapter for the brake. The FH definatly has more of a cool factor though.

LOL,I stared at mine for nine years, before I got up the nerve to start cutting on it!! Vette 447, it has not blown up yet!!! I will take it out this weekend and see what the MOA is.If Mack gets good results out of his I will see if Rick will make me one with 14X1 lefthand threads,he's got a very good selection on his site.

Mack8384: Dragunov Parts is going to be making sight hoods, too. I think he's working on a prototype now that Berg was evaluating. Perhaps I have that part of the story wrong but I think we will see them in a month or two. Boy, that Tigr is sweet with the longer flashhider.

I hope so. I've been pestering Rick to make them, but last time i heard from him he stated that he had only recieved 3 inquiries about the hood. I know that they soon will be making the adjustable gas regulators. Once i get the adjustable regulator and the sight hood i'll be on a quest for a rear sight leaf that is marked to the correct 1200 meters. :D

Yes, we all need the rear sight, too. There is a guy on eBay parting a Dragunov out with adjustable regulator but it's expensive. I think RIck would sell a number of sight hoods as I'm seen lots of interest. I don't know if 20 or 30 would be enough for him to make it worthwhile. I'd rather have the hood than the regulator and I bet others think the same.
