2) poly tech - beijing, china

KFS is Kengs Firearm something or 'nother. You have a post ban Polytech AK made in china. In case you don't know these are some of the better AK's available both Postban and Pre-ban. The one you have should have a heavier barrel than a standard AK and also has a threaded barrel with a muzzle nut protecting it along with a surprisingly comfortable "butthole" stock as we say. If you want to sell it I would be interested.

Thanks...for the info...
But it can't be Post-Ban though..
It was my father in laws rifle and he died in 1994, even then he had it for at least a year or so...
Keng's Firearms Specialty,Inc.(KFS) imported SKS's,AK's,ammo, and accessories/parts from China before the 1989 and till the Chinese gun /ammo ban in 1994. The last shipment of poly-tech rifles were held up in customs because of the 94 ban. The rifles were not going to be allowed into the country because of this. Keng's appealed the customs ruling and won 2 years later. These guns had a Choate dragonov style stock, welded muzzle nut,and ground down bayonett lug.

AK-47/S is the model designation for the Polytech Legend. This is a pre89' ban gun. Check the receiver is it a solid piece of milled metal or is it pieces of sheet metal riveted together. I'd bet $100 its got a forged and machined aka milled receiver. The majority were brought in with dark stained chu wood stocks, although many also were imported with lighter blonde stock set. This is one of the nicest pre89' AK's available in the US. K F S stands for Keng's Firearms Specialty Inc.

sirsmitt, in the AK world anything *preban* has to have been imported before 1989. The '94 ban was more for *domesticaly* produced rifles.

Hmmm......I'll have to find the paper work to confirm exactly when it was bought..But at least it is pre-ban, according to "J.A."
sense it was imported from '89 to '94, then again after '96 (i believe)
But anyway, thanks all for the info..Thats all the info I need at this point. I don't really want to sell, I've whined and moaned, and groaned for it to long to give it up now..he he
Thanks

I've been married for 1 year and 3 months..I've never met my Father in Law, sense he died in '94..But I can tell you, I wish he were still alive. He must have been something..
I guess as usual I got one hell of a rifle here then? He bought only the best.
I also have an M1 carbine made by Inland motors...although they made 2,000,000 of them during WWll,a lot of them are now peices-parts strung about here and there (mostly in south Korea)..Mine is perfect condition, except he replace the original rear sight with a Scope and mount.
But enough braggin, Yall are very nice people.

If it has a milled receiver **hang on to it** and take **really** good care of it! You've got a winner.

I have a Polytech 223 RPK which came into Kengs i think in the mid eighties. I have three mags with it and am having trouble find more of the POlytech 223 mags. Since i got rid of all my Ar 's, the only 223 I have left is this big long barreled Ak which shoots really well, but is very loud. I never see these weapons at gun shows and i figure not many came into the country. I saw a ad where Vollmers is paying over $900.00 for these guns . I can imagine what they will sell them for. Anyone else have a 223 RPK and how do I get mor mags for it? Thanks for any info.
AK47/S = Pre-Ban Legend!

J.A., you described my AK perfectly. I've got maybe 60 rounds fired through it. I'm only up to 5 AK's and 2 SKS's... I'm trying to outfit the squad...

Me to I've got an AK in .223 and have 14 30 round mags for it and several 5 round mags, the 5 round mags can be modified to easily hold 10 rounds, by by cuting off the bottom of the mag follower, measure twice and cut once as they say or you will mess up you magazine. This rifle is not an RPK, I have two 7.62x39 RPK's, this rifle is the AKM version in .223.
