I bought a 30rd mag was wondering if I kept the fully loaded, would it wear out the spring tension? I went to gun shop to buy more magazines for it. I asked for the USGI mags but they didnt have any. I bought an orlite 30rd mag. Are these any good?

I have read several posts of people leaving AK mags fully loaded for years and still working with no problems as well as M1 carbine mags. I dont know anything about AR15 mags though. What seems to wear magazines out is the constant loading and unloading and not the long term storage.

USGI mags are not harmed by being left loaded. Orlites, Thermolds, other plastic body magazines, and the cheapo aftermarket mags like "USA" can be.
Their weaker construction can allow the mag to bulge, and can stress and/or bend the feedlips if left loaded and under tension.

To add on to what Circuits said I do think the USGI 20 rounders are the will wear out if the spring if you leave them fully loaded because the followers are shorter allowing the spring to be fully compressed. However the 30rd USGI are fine being fullyloaded becuase the follower and shape of magazine prevent the spring being fully compressed.

obvious --- but do not use them in the cold--feed lips break easily
