I recently picked up a poly tech RPK in extremely good condition and I was wondering if anyone had an idea of how many poly tech RPK's got in before "Gun Banmania" Mine is a Kengs Firearms import RPK.

Tread Head, I also have aPolytech RPK, with 3 mags in 223 caliber. I know not many came in to Kengs back in the eighties. I cannot remember seeing one at a gun show for years. What do you think ours are worth? i have had mine for sometime now. It is the only 223 i have left;having sold all my AR's. They are a rare weapon.

Ivan, I have been phoning around the past few days trying to get a "real" quote on the value of the RPK's and have come up with numbers that range from $1000.00 to $1800.00 depending on who you talk to. I paid $1100.00 cash for mine. I felt it was a bit high but its the only game in town! It beats the price thats attached to the yugo RPK. To think I had one of those about 6 years ago, sold it for $900.00 If only I had possessed a crystal ball! I feel that the RPK's are probably worth about 12-1300.00 (retail) Vollmer will give you $1000.00 I know. He's always a little low on buy offers. I also picked up a rather nice NHM 91 at the same time. It was a heavy barrel AK moment!

Tread Head, thanks for the info on the value of the Polytech Ak. I will keep mine. i have had it for a long time and have sold so many valuable weapons. It is the only 223 i have left. The problem is finding 30 round mags(Polytech only will fit). i have the three that came with the gun. How many do you have?"

Ivan,Good to hear from ya! Well my RPK is in the 7.62x39 caliber so I am pretty well stocked on the 30rd , 40rd and drum mags. At the time I purchased my RPK there was a dealer there that was selling 2 pre-ban Poly Tech 223 guns. One was a side folder and the other was a fixed stock. $1200.00 each!! Both guns NIB. One was serial # 0001 ! Both came with 3 mags each just as your RPK. As you said, I'm going to hang on to mine as well Its a real peach! Plus its the only Poly Tech RPK I've seen in about 6 years or more. Its a low serial # too. I found a bipod for my NHM 91 a few days ago as well. Just what I was looking for too, fixed legs and brand new never been on a gun.
I'll keep my eye's open for Poly Tech 223 mags for ya. If I find them we'll work out the details then. You can never have too many mags!!!!
