I compared the receiver to my SLR 95 and the Poly Tec is a stamped receiver. Can you tell I'm new at this? The side folding stock is just like the one on page 35 of Duncan Long's AK47 book. If Poly Tec didn't bring them in this way it was modified before I got it. But, as others have stated in answering my other two post according to the serial number it should be a pre-ban, right? I appreciate your patience and help. Thanks, Shadowbinder, NRA Life Member

Hello,
Poly-Tech made a side folder and it was called AKS-762 just like they called their full stock and side folding stocked models.
The only model that was differant was the Legend series and it was called AK-47/S.

Hope that this helps.
OUT in Vegas!

Yeah by the looks of it someone installed a wirefolder on your preban rifle. Probably a german or romanian wire stock. I like folding stocks on aks. My guess would be that it originally had a fixed wood stock. Polytech did import a bunch of sidefolders with the 76s model number. They have redish/maroon synthetic furniture, its some sort of resin impregnated fiberglass, it has a piece on the folding stock which matches the pistol grip and forend. The Polytech sidefolder stock is activated by a button at the top of the stock at the hinge. The wire stock on your gun, I'm guessing, has a lever to press to fold it, and you just pull it to open it? Sounds like a good setup, now just get yourself a good birdcage or vortex flash suppressor and your ready to rock and roll. The ak74 style muzzlebrake is a good brake if you prefer brakes. I'm biased towards flash suppressors though. If you have any other questions just ask!
