I'm curious if anyone has any direct experience with this combination? What do you feel are it's high points & low points? I realize ammunition isn't as plentiful as say the .30-30 Win. but I will reload my own. But as far as short range hunting less than 200 yards, for deer & elk and something you'll pack all day would you consider this a good choice? Let me know your opinions. Thanks!

Steve, I'm probably opening a can of worms, to me the 35 is more of a brush cal. I believe I'd tend to stay with a 308/270/06 class.
In open country, these are more logical....in dark timber, the 35 would be ok.

Dan, I agree! I already have something to take care of open field shots. I use a Ruger No. 1S chambered in .300 Win. Mag. for that application. I'm wanting something relatively compact & practical that I could use in short range/open sight applications. The .35 Remington would provide more 'punch' than the .30-30 Win. out to about 150-200 yards. Thought I'd try expanding my 'arsenal' to include something with a repeating lever. Just curious if anyone else has or is using the Marlin 336 in .35 Remington and what their experiences are with it?

No in that cal.....336 was what I bought Marc for first
