Zastava M76

The new batch of Zastava M76 rifles will not be coming into the country. ATF will not allow the rifle in due to it having too many points even though it is not on the banned list. You may see them in the future but not in the configuration as the 1st 100 rifles. The story has it that importers complained to ATF about the rifle having 3 points and ATF responded by not allowing an import license.

BASTARDS! :(
By Skeeter1's response I take it he's on SOG's waiting list :^(
I wonder what modifications would have to be made to allow importation?

Tanker: I have very strick guidelines on this sort of post. You are in fact part of the Rumor Mill when you post an item such as this one.
Many people bought multiple units and are selling them. I don't think posting numbers to ATF and getting them inundated with calls when no determination has been made is fair to anyone especially them if it is even the case. True?
I am sure if there is any determination whatsoever I will be the first to post it here. Otherwise you are not assisting anyone here but making the rumor's flow rampantly.
Here are your choices: Buy one or sit back and wait until any, if anything is forthcoming otherwise your doing nothing but interferring with a persons ability to sell an item based on pure conjecture and assumptions. You do NOT have a diffinitive answer so don't post any speculations. Your post did not say "I have a letter stating that these are being recalled from so and so."
Besides, you actually bought the right rifle. The .308 SVD will out perform the M-76 by a mile. No pun intended.
Thank's for your understanding.

Zoomie,
They are in fact on the endangered species list in the ATF Green book. Right there in black and white M-76.
I am sure that ATF is focusing on the issue to make determination on how these were imported in the first place and who approved them at headquarters to resolve any questions.
Note that there has been no notification and YOU will not get the same answer or any answer/response from anyone at ATF, for that matter until THEY consider and determine this rifle as a problem item. Other than that its a rumor.
Thanks.

Strange that SOG & Century Arms claim, "We know nothing about any Recall..."
But talking to anal clerks & Customer Service Supervisors today (Feb 25th) at both places got me nothing, but denials...
Par for the course at SOG & CAI...

What's this about a recall? I'll I've heard was that there may not be anymore imported. Sounds like someone is stirring the pot.

Oh there's more to these rifles than meets the eye. I won't elaborate, but if someone already owns one don't get too attached to it. Some of you already know what I mean and no I won't spill the beans.

What I can't understand, is why M76 owners (not me anymore...) don't get together & all hire one Hot Shot Lawyer, like the NRA's former hired-gun Richard Gardiner in Virginia, to go after the ATFE, or whatever it calls itself these days, & bring a "Class Action Suit" against the ATFE for the F**K UP (by them), that said the M76 Rifles could come into the Country & now they want to change their minds???
WTF!!!
These CLOWNS Should be SUED & SUED FOR MILLIONS IF ALL the M76 Owners would unite!!!

Having an interest in these rifles and wondering how they could be imported I did a little research. The importer was PW Arms of Wa. I believe this was Pac West. They went out of business(bankuptcy) in 1993 if memory serves. Therefore I believe these rifles were held in litigation since then and released in 2002. I do not have iron clad documentation but it explains how a rifle with preban features are on the market. Clinton signed the Assault rifle ban in 1994. If this is true there will be no more with these features until 2004 when the ban sunsets....

As Paul Harvey says , "and now the rest of the story....."
The "pre-ban" features are the least of the 76's problems.

Yup. Like I said, there's more to these rifles than meets the eye...

There can't be much on these rifles because the exact same rifle was imported by Mitchell with all preban features in the early eighties and is still here..The rifle was never full auto so that cannot be an issue or it would have been addressed as the Maadi and Chinese made on FA receivers. I believe there is an agenda on some poster's part.....what is it..jealousy?

Your words seem to tell why the M76 Rifles from SOG/Century Arms are catching all the ATF attention: "...the exact same rifle was imported by Mitchell with all preban features in the early eighties..."
We seem to be in this conundrum because W's Daddy, George Herbert Walker Bush, was not exposed for his stupid exploitation of the unconstitution, & therefore illegal term of "Sporting Purposes", and the NRA pandered to the "Sporting Purposes" CRAP, by saying that AR-15's are very "sporty" target rifles, when the 2nd Amendment, as we all SHOULD DEMAND, has NOTHING TO DO WITH SPORTING PURPOSES!
But, I'm wondering if owners of Mitchell Arms M76 Rifles whined to the ATF, or ATFE, about the low-priced ($1500) PW Arms M76 Rifles depreciating their "assets", or if it's the typical GONZO ATF lunacy, because the ATFE is too afraid to go after some "REAL" Terrorists, or criminals, or just can't find any???
Anyways, if this actually turns into another no-knock RAID & IDIOT ATF Witch-Hunt over some STOOOPID Bayonet lugs & "Evil Features", those who don't want to hand over their M76 Rifles, might want to contact the NRA's former chief counsel, who specializes in going after the ATF, or ATFE, or whatever the GOONS want to call themselves:
EDIT: Posting this persons contact information without his/her permission or consent is not right or permissable here.
