I am buying an ak today. At first it was going to be an slr-95, but that is not available now. But he does have a poly-tech still sealed in the wrapper. My worry is if it has a b-west receiver. The serial # starts out with a CWXXXX. Can anyone clear this up for me?

Doesn't the B-West say "B-West" on the receiver? On mine it has a 386 in a circle.

Re: PolyTechs, the weapons should have a 386 in an oval on the reciever, and a B-West recievers are marked as such being MANUFACTURED by B-West. The PolyTech review on this site is totally wrong and based on much hooplah. I've been trying to get it changed for a while now.

What needs to be changed? I heard the B-West receivers were never heat treated and as a result devlope stress cracks and warped guide rails. Correct me if I am wrong but this is common knowledge. I also have heard about guys who have put tens of thousands of rounds through their rifles with no problems but maybe they had some later produced B-West recievers, I don't know. All polytechs have the 386 n the circle, it's the factroy marking.

I just got a Poly Tech AK today. It is preban, threaded barrel and folding bayo. It does NOT have the 386 circle stamping. It has the 416 triangle stamp. Says Poly Tech, Beijing, China on the side. Four digit serial number. Stamped, not milled.
best wishes,,,,,,,
