My AKS-762 has the SP stamped on it. What does the SP stand for? Is the gun considered a pre or post ban? Mine has a side folding stock. Is this legal or did I buy something that I should not have? Thanks for you help. I've been trying to ID this gun for sometime.

AKS-762 SP means Avtomat Kalashnikov Semiautomatic 7.62 mm. the SP stands for Sporterized. The gun should have a thumbhole stock on it if you're located in the US as the SP was stamped at customs. there should be 4 tack welds at the muzzle and a thumbhole stock on the gun. Looks like you might not have a weapon thats in compliance with Sec 922
