Truck dropped this off today [:D] All Bugarian parts including receiver. US gas rod, FCG, and brake. The brake is soon to be replaced with a standard muzzle nut. Also working on a nice set of Russian laminated furniture for grins. Need a drum also.

That is bad ass  Wow, that is one of the prettiest RPK's I have seen. Personally, I like the current muzzle brake. It gives the gun a longer look. A drum would be a great addition.

I also like the Russian laminated stockset. I hpe to build a RPK soon and have already purchased a Russian stockset from K-Var. I believe the one which k-var sells if for a stamped reciever, I do not know how much of a problem that will be but something to keep an eye out for none the less. The russian set has a short buttstock. I thought the thumbhole on my Maadi was short, this is about a inch shorter. Lastly, the set I got from K-var is not perfect. It has a few nicks on it. That suprised me at first, but then I relalized that I am buying russian surplus goods. Now I am okay with it. It will give the gun a little character :)

Congrats on the RPK. Looks magnificant.

PS. Does it have a cleaning rod?

I am procuring some really nice Russian hand guards and then Z_recto is going to make me a matching laminated butt stock for the milled receiver.

No cleaning rod came with it but I believe the Bulgy version stores it in one of the tripod legs. I need to verify.

Dont know if Im allowed to share this, I hope so. Its a ZRecto milled RPK stock on bottom, I dont think they are out yet.

To convert a stamped to milled (like Im doing) you need to reangle it or it will be at a weird angle to the receiver and shoulder bad. You also need to chop off most of the "stub" that goes into the receiver (duh!) and cut the bottom tang slot. Plus the top tang slot is too deep so you need to make a shim to make it more shallow and glue it in there. This is all going of the Arsenal RPK-7.

What I will probably do after sleeping on it "not the RPK"
Is leave it like it is, so that it will continue to be a true representation of the Bugarian Arsenal product. I will procure another RPK kit when they become available and have a build done on a stamped receiver to mimic a Russian model with cleaning rod, laminated wood, etc.

Sounds like a good idea to me. The only thing better than a RPK is two RPK's ;)
