A guy wants to include a 1912/61 in a trade deal we're discussing, and I am unfamiliar with Mausers of a Latin flavor. My understanding is these are Chilean Mausers converted to 7.62 NATO in 1961? No?

Also, what's a price range for these?

Thanks!

My price guide lists them as EX $350, VG $300, G $250, F $200 & Poor $125. Says they were originally 7x57, Two locking lugs with a supplementary lug on the bolt handle. Better than two lugs only for the pressure of the 7.62x51. I had heard somewhere that some country in South America had converted to 7.62x51 by sweating in an insert in the chamber and that they can fail over time due to gas cutting around the insert once the silver solder used to seat it in lets go. Don't know if it was these or not. I'll look for it.

Hey thanks! I appreciate it! Don't worry about looking for any further info, I don't think the deal is going to happen at this point.

This is why I love this forum, people willing to help. I try to do my part, but so many others are just plain volumes of generous knowledge.

Cheers!

I have one of these. A Waffenfabrik Steyr Austria in .308. A great rifle. I would give $125 for it without hesitation if it is nice. A friend of mine has hunted deer with one for 12 years and loves his. His gun's reliability and durability is aplayed a part in my decision to buy one when I could find one. There are several web sites wth info on these.
