case, and Mag Safe bullet. Man, that is one impressive load, but it does require heavier springs and a fully supported barrel. That's right at 900 ft lbs, and it truly does penetrate well, and tear up a lot of tissue. Its recoil is no worse than +P .45 acp ammo, either. It makes normal .45 jhp ammo look sick by comparison, when you shoot animals with both of these loads.

WARNING: The 450 SMC cartridge generates higher pressure levels than conventional .45 Auto or .45 Auto +P ammunition. Under no circumstances should 450 SMC ammunition be used in a firearm not chambered or converted to handle the 450 SMC. The use of 450 SMC ammunition in anything other than firearm manufactured or converted to handle the 450 SMC will cause excessive wear and possible damage to the firearm and injury to the user. Under no circumstances should .45 Auto brass be used to duplicate 450 SMC ballistics. The 450 SMC cartridge case is constructed to withstand higher levels of pressure than conventional .45 Auto brass. When in doubt, consult with a qualified gunsmith. Call Triton for more information or for a location of a qualified Smith

If you do have the frame of a 45 Win Mag your 45 auto or Plus will NOT with handle the pressures

hot loads. With a fully supported barrel, and heavy springs, the 100 gr slug, at 2000 fps, is not even close to being a hot load. Compared to the forces exerted to get 230 grs to 1350 fps (in the 460 Rowland, a regular 1911 frame and slide) the 100 gr at 2000 fps is a pantywaist load. Practice with regular .45 ACP ball ammo, and you will be fine. Also, anyone with any sense does 90=% of the practice- firing with a "spare" gun, one that handles just like their carry gun. That saves the fouling and the wear on the carry gun. Simple, eh? Yet almost noone ever manages to think that far ahead.

It would seem that the warning Don posted came from Triton. Only a fool would not heed that kind of specific warning. Triton wants to sell more bullets, but not at the expence of customer safety. Pushing their product is an admirable thought but I'd imagine that Triton wouldn't want your kind of pushing. You do what you want. I'm happy with the way my face looks just fine. I don't think a slide sticking out of my nose would improve it. Your recommendation is reckless.

to being "hot'. The 9x25 Dillion gets 115 grs to 1800+ fps, and it's not really hot, either, and the 9x25 case has CONSIDERABLY less powder space than does the .450, and a smaller od bullet for the powder gases to push against ,and more friction with the bore, too.
