View Full Version : M&A parts, and Model 1 sales. Any good??
Could some of you here. Give me the good the bad and the uglys. On the following companys Model 1 sales, and M&A sales. The pro's and con's or any set backs. I'm looking mostly at their 16 inch A2 flat top uppers.

I've used M&A before, there was a waiting period, but that was a long time ago. I used J&T distributing on my last 2 builds, only issue was the second one had a canted muzzle brake, which I promptly replace. Overall both kits from J&T were very nice and shipping was prompt.

From what I recall, Model 1 was the latest incarnation of NESARD, Inc. (well they have the same ADDRESS)
NESARD parts kits (and I assume Model 1) have really bad Quality control. My roommate ordered three full kits from them a while ago. One kit arrived missing parts. The parts usually don't fit into milspec guns. The Delta Ring, mag release button and some other parts are made of low tolerance PLASTIC and all will deform or melt under heat (i.e. even leaving this in the sun will melt the plastic). The headspacing is suspect. Nearly every gunsmith I spoke to in the past told me to RUN AWAY from them.
If they have changed recently, please feel free to correct my assessment. :-)

I have a couple Model 1 uppers both 16" flattops. (1- 16" thin barrel in 5.56 and one 16" HBAR in 7.62X39) and are very happy with them. I have not seen any plastic parts on them and they seem to equal my Bushmaster and Oly uppers in quality.
The 5.56 upper has at least 5,000 rounds through it without a problem. I only have a couple hundred rounds through the 7.62 upper because hi-cap mags are hard to get.
Would I buy another? Yes!

I haven't ordered from either of them in several years, I never had a problem from M&A, they were always up front about any delays (didn't even have to ask) everyone that answered the phone was well versed in all things AR ... when they told you something, you could take it to the bank!
Model 1 Sales on the other hand, lied about having parts in stock, lied about when orders were shipped and gave false tracking numbers ... Parts always fit and I never had a problem with a kit being short parts, but I wont reccomend them to anyone.
Both of these companys as well as American Sprit Arms are (or at least originally were) owned and ran by three daughters of Dick Drasen ... the military contractor of M16 parts in the 60's and maybe early 70's ... contracted under the name of Sendra.
