My favorite C&R rifles, these were my first two of this kind. I need a 1952 and a 1957, then a VZ-52/57 to have all the she years. Then to get one of each year from each of the two factories... will it ever end?

No, its the backside of a Cheaper than Dirt special, I can't ID the camo but it resembles US woodland, only brighter colors.

A year or two ago Century found a horde and ammo was cheap and plentiful. Of course I didn't get as much as I should have, they are out now. Smart guys bought tons of it and now parse it out on gun auction sites for 300-400% markup in small lots. No other source. I have 300-350 rounds stored, but I have a chamber insert in the light colored one, despite the bad stories it works for me, I fire Wolf through it all day long. Going to keep the other one as-is, just in case Castro dies soon...

I considered the chamber insert but given the corrosive nature of most of the 7.62x39 ammo available I didnt think it was a good idea.

I should have kept the rifle however and have been kicking myself in the ass over it ever since.:(

Sorry Ezra, this is one weapon I've never been able to warm up to. I think it's butt ugly and the ammo is scarce and of very poor quality. Bad primers, and the most corrosive primers I've ever seen. But to each his own the farmer said . . . as he kissed the cow!;)

Ezra Coli,
Very nice. I too would like to expand into other Vz's but the ammo thing keeps me where I am. It's why I went with the 52/57 to begin with...I like shooting the guns I buy...you are gonna hate this, but I'd only looked for about a week once I "decided" I wanted one (a Vz- 52/57)! I just fell into the gun I bought.
Some days being lucky is not such a bad thing.
