My favorite local gun shop bought out an Estate. In the collection was an SVT 40. I picked it up for $325.

On the outside the rifle is in good shape. There is a small crack in the stock just behind the receiver but it's not bad. It is a 1941 dated Tula. The rifle has Finnish capture marks all over it (I guess this one saw some action.) Unfortunatly it's not matching. I guess the Fin's rebuilt it. The mag it came with has Finnish capture marks as well. The bore isn't great, probably 50%. It's got strong rifling but there is surface rust. I'm going to start the clean up tomorrow. Hopefully it'll come back to life because I'm planning on shooting it.

How much do you guys think this one is worth?

Thanks,
Led

Wow that's a good deal in my book. Post some pics for us.

Nice score! I'm guessing low end $450, and if it cleans up at all, maybe over $600 with all the Finn marks. YMMV

Great score!!

For those looking to get one, I've seen deals posted at gunboards quite a bit lately. Last one was for a pair a guy was selling. They were going for about $450 each. One was a Kovrov too. Just have to keep an eye out.

If it cleans up well and is a full length rifle not a cutdown (fake) carbine, I'd go $500-$600. Does it have the six slot flashhider, white bolt or plumb colored? Is the stock relieved on one side of the trigger or both. Where is the rear sling swivel and is the front a swivel or a sold sling bar? Does it have scope rails and is the rear, top of the receiver notched? A lot of things can make a difference in price. For the price range I mentioned it should not be a rearsenaled rifle. Based on the Finn markings and mismatch parts it's probably an original. Bring on the pics.:)
