Got both now. Here's how they looked:
Grade III Imbel from Dans. Looks pretty darn nice. VG+ to EXC bore. The expected scratches on the furnature, but that's to be expected. I've already smoother out the scratches on the butt stock for future painting. Only the recoil spring tube looked like it could use replacing as it's worn thin around the front threads. All other parts looked pretty good. The gas tube and piston were shiny clean. It came very well package with all the major assemblies bubble wrapped. Shipped quick too.
G1 from FAC. This one looks pretty good as well despite the fact that the parts were thrown together loose in a box without padding! This box in turn was placed in another box with lots of padding however. Anyway, the walnut butt stock looks great and will easily refinish. The butt plate looks fairly well worn and could use some work, but that's a probably a reflection of my being a nit picky bastard. Walnut pistol grip looks very good. Only shallow dents and no gouges or cracks in any of the wood parts. The rest of the lower looks in good shape too. The upper and barrel are covered in cosmoline, but the barrel I'd rate again at VG+ to EXC! The exterior of the barrel looks almost new with no scrapes on the finish. The handguards look mismatched a little with one a slight plumb color. Looks like the handguards came from a different rifle as they don't look like they're in nearly as good a shape as the rest of the front end stuff. All in all it looks much much better than expected. I'm tempted to assemble this one almost as is with maybe just a repark of the lower receiver and refinish the wood and handguards.:) Cool flash hider. I've got a sleeved one coming to replace it though.
Serviceable mags came with both.
Well worth the price on either kit IMO.
