As you can see,it's been sporterized unfortuanately but in military config would've been substantially more $$$. Once I remilitarize it,it will be worth twice or more what I paid for it.

Dangerous stuff to mess around with your Johnson...be careful reworking it.:D
Nice rifle, I'd like one too I think. Just need to find someone who doesn't know they have a Johnson.;)
I never thought that I would ever say this, but "That's a nice Johnson you have there!"

$1500
It will cost about about another $500 to remilitarize with the proper front sight, bayolug and military stock.
In military config they are running 3K on up so I'm ahead of the game.
It's in VG shape other than the sporterization.
There's even a compass built into the top of the buttstock!!!

A very nice Johnson indeed.
Why would someone sporterize a rifle like that? If I were the gunsmith, I would've refused that bit of business.
I look forward to seeing the pics of the restoration, 1Pat.

$500.00 to restore it is not bad. If you sent it to Miltech Arms (http://www.miltecharms.com/index.htm) They would charge $1,500.00 for complete restoration.

Restored to exact military specifications, the M1941 Johnson is a very rare firearm designed prior to WWII by a Marine Corps Captain. The quick change barrel and a ten round magazine that can be reloaded during firing are but two of the many unique M1941 Johnson innovations. The M1941 Johnson was used by the Marine Raiders and the Para-Marines at the beginning of World War II and served as their main semi-auto rifle until adoption of the M1 Garand in late 1942. Extremely limited availability.
GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS * Action: Short Recoil Semi-Auto * Weight 9 lbs 8 oz * Length 47.95 in * Muzzle Velocity: 2,700fps * Max. range: 3,500 yds * Max. Effective range 800-900 yds * Magazine: Non-Detachable Rotary 10 Round capacity * New walnut stock * New 4 Groove Barrel
ACCESSORIES INCLUDED * Oil & Thong Cleaning Kit * Combo Screwdriver * Stripper Clip * New Model 1907 Leather Sling * Web Accessory Case * Manual * Padded Case * Pine Crate

You mean just like the "Official Daisy Red Ryder Lever Action BB Gun that holds 200 shots and has a compass in the stock"?

Crap! All the good lines have already been taken! :D Don't you just hate people that cut their Johnson's off, what freaks!;)
On a similar note a buddy of mine came accross a Springfield and a Garand rifle that a guy bought for the NRA back in the late 1950's. THis bozo, sanded off the cartouches on the stock and true oiled the stock of the rifle, cause he thought those funny marks made it look ugly!
Wanna guss what he did to the Garand?
He cut off the bayonet lug cause it messed up the lines. He also sanded that stock and true oiled it as well. It just breaks my heart when I see weapons like this "Improved" like this! I'd just like to kick their asses sooooooo hard that they'd have to unzip their fly to take a bite of food!

I'm with you, I hate to see this butchery. Bubbaing, jim-bobing, whatever. People say "it's their gun let them do what they want" That may be true, but it dosen't make it any better than buying a priceless peice of artwork and then painting a mustache on it and cutting out the eyes so you can look through the eyeholes and scare peple!
Or taking a rare classic car and putting a spoiler on it, tinting the window, removing the shocks and putting in lowrider hydrolics, giving it a hot pink paintjobm etc..
Butchery of a work of art is a crime against humanity.
