Was shooting my 41 Ishevsk, SVT-40 Saturday. I usually run the gas setting on 1.3 but due to the Albanian 7.62x54r not cycling properly I had turned it up a notch. Had a few rounds of heavy ball and intended to turn the gas back down when I got to shooting it. Before that could happen I found some old Russian copper washed ammo and decided to try it out. First round, no problem, second round did not cycle and I had to tap the bolt handle to eject the empty. Tried a third round and it didn't cycle either. Tore her down and found the Op Rod had jumped it's moorings and was peened on the end. A few licks with a fine toothed file and I was back in business. Didn't expect the Russian 147gr to be that hot but it definetly was. From now on i'm going to start each type of ammo on low and work up to proper function from a clean firearm and make a note of the proper setting. I'll tape the setting information to the butt of the rifle or inside the lid of my Range Can. Other than the above incident she ran well and as always was loads of fun. Lots of stares from falks who had no idea what it was based on it's appearance and the fireball coming out the end:)
