View Full Version : New receivers and wood stocks from Hungary

I finally have samples of the stocks and the receivers from Hungary. The receiver is made by FEG (you guys are hard to fool), and is the same as the sporter SA-85 imported until the ban. It will be marked with our name, and FEGs, and will be designated model SA-85. We will mark it with our model designation when we build it into one of our own rifles. It will be for sale to FFLs in small quantities for $154.99, with quantity pricing available for builders.
The receiver has the front & rear trunnions, the center support tube, and the trigger guard with mag catch installed. It has been blasted, but not yet fininshed. The one in the picture is a prototype, and does not have the factory markings on it yet. I engraved it with the ATF required markings after the picture was taken. Here is what it looks like

We also got the samples of the wood stocks I have been raving about. They will come in both stamped and milled configuration, and have steel buttplates with toolkit doors installed. The sling swivel attachment is on the side where it should have been from the beginning. This is the latest wood design from the military contractor for Hungary, but the stocks were never released for military use.
The lower handguard is the AKM type with the swells, and the upper guard is solid wood. The finish is as nice as any furniture in my house. It is burnished to a beautiful smooth finish. It is far beyond the quality of any Kalashnikov furniture I have ever seen before. The pistol grip is plastic in matching color. We had it made up to make legal installation easier.
The price is $72.99. The part number is H-498 for the stamped set, and H-499 for the milled set. They will be available by mid-June, with the initial ship date from Hungary early June.
Here's a picture:

I hope you like them as much as I do. The samples are sitting by my desk, and I keep picking them up and foldling them. They may turn me into some kind of pervert.
The part of the buttstock near the receiver is very thin and comfortable. It is not like any wood stock you have ever held.
I'll try to get more pictures up soon.

Go ahead and place an order with us with your Visa. We don't charge cards until we are ready to ship, and when they come in we ship things in the order that we took the backorders. Call tonight if you want to--the order number is H-499. The answering service won't know anything about the stocks, but they can take orders.

Yes it does. It is a foll-on proper semi AK stamped receiver. If you want a preview, look at a SA-85M on a dealer's table somewhere. Same receiver. We are getting the final dimensional questions cleared up now, and commercial production scheduled. We want the trunnion to be usable with the largest percentage of barrels possible, so they will be on the small end of the range of barrels used out there in the E. Block world. They should fit all AK-47 & AKM barrels, with the bigger ones requiring a thousands or two taken off to fit. Too big is what we are trying to avoid. They won't work with Russian pattern (Bulgarian) AK-74s or Chinese barrels.

If everything goes according to plan, commercial quantities should hit here by mid-June.

Jimmy, dumb question time: What all does BATF REQUIRE you to mark on receiver, what else do you mark on it and where is serial number located (on outside that is)??? Just how close to Polish can it be made to look?
Thanks
Tantal

The Hungarian stamped receiver is practically identical to the Polish version, or the Russian version for that matter. If you are building a PMKM (which is the Polish version of a stamped receiver AKM) then this receiver is the one to use.
Thanks, Jimmy.
Hey Jimmy
nice talking to you this afternoon. You're as funny as you are knowledgable. I've been looking at this furniture and it's looking better everytime. I think I'm getting it after I get the muzzle brake from you. By the way, the tip of the muzzle measures out at .480, wll below the needed thickness for the threaded brake. I'll just have to wait for the other way you said you can put it on. Will be waiting anxiously, please hurry! Thanks again FC.

Your welcome, Tantal. I am just glad you are around to answer questions. I still feel priviledged to have you hanging around our board.

Just a reminder guys- don't buy used Polish kits for your new recievers from Jimmy, the Bulgarian sets from K-Var will work perfectly. The back of the barrel diameter between the Bulgarian and Hungarian is the same- trust me, I have an FEG barrel on an SLR. Just a thought. Ask Mike at MSC if you do not believe me.

I missed answering a question earlier. The ATF requires that every receiver or rifle imported have the following mark:
1. Manufacturer and country of origin of the receiver.
2. Model of the receiver or firearm
3. Caliber
4. Serial number
5. Name and city of the importer
This has to be done within 15 days of importation.
And of course, as a seller I want you to buy my stuff. As a consumer, I spend my money whereever I want, and don't feel any need to apologize for it. I hope you guys do the same.

Jimmy: How close was your estimate on June 10th shipping date for H-499? Mine was first order and of course I will share with the board on the pretty new furniture when it comes. Looks mighty nice on the computer screen!

SGT ROck, I have owned several AK's from just about every manufacturer, Hungarian, Romanian, Bulgarian, Polytech etc. I personally like the Bulgarians for the quality and the Polytech's for the superb accuracy and finnish. Just a thought, although thanks for the advice.

We finally have shipping confirmation for Friday (tomorrow)on the stocks. They should be in New York Monday, and with luck will clear customs by Wednesday, and should arrive here by the next Monday. It will take us a few days to package them and get the back orders out.
