View Full Version : Just bought SLR95 $400
I just purchased a SLR95 for $400. I couldn't pass it up. It is in great condition 99% with 5 round waffle mag. My first gun was a SLR, but I sold it when trying to get funds for my HK91. I really hated selling it. What are the values that these are going for now. I remember them going for around $650 to $700.
Thanks

You got a good deal. Values of the SLRs are in REALITY about $400-450. You'll see them offered for more, but they rarely sell for above the range I suggested. Some people think they are worth the price of a pre-ban and I've seen SLR95 rifles offered for up to $750. That's a rediculous price. That kind of money will get you various different makes of pre-89 ban rifles.
Like ALMOST ANY AK, just figure what you want to pay for whatever variant you want and sure enough, you'll find your deal.

Hey M76, where do you shop????
You consistently quote prices for AKs that are the lowest i've ever seen i.e. "very good deals." Now the SLR may not be "worth" more than $400 or whatever, but they consistently go for much higher from most sources. I've seen dozens of ANIB SLRs and other AKs (among various sources....SGN, auctions, AK47.net, shows, local shops, etc...what have you), and they're never priced as consistently low as you quote. I've found the low priced AKs you often talk of, but they were incredibly rare occurances.
Just wondering....and not all of us get dealer prices or have an army of friends in the arms business to have "insider" info to the good deals........so i just wanna where i can get some of the incredibly low priced AKs you know. Just plz help us lay people!!!!!!!!! You seem to know where to get the cheap equipment. Help a brutha out!!!!!
Thanx, mike!!!!!

I too purchased the SLR-95 for $400 used in excellent condition with the 5 rounder and a 30 rounder as well as the accesories.
I remember when these were $260 NIB back in the good old days, so I felt a bit guilty for putting it off for so long until I found a decent price.
My suggestion is to just keep looking and one day you'll find what your looking for for the price you're willing to pay. Patience is the key...

Beemaze has the right idea.
To get the good deals like I get you have to do just a few things.
Keep a sharp lookout, a good deal on the Bowers board or on Sturmgewehr can last MINUTES!!! For instance: Romak 2 NIB $265+15 shipping. Got it myself, wish I had bought both that he had. Someone else has posted how his sharp eye at a gunshow got him the same thing for $209+tax.

Know your stuff. Often the seller isn't real sure just what he has. (Which should tell you SOMETHING) For instance: Yugo MAK90-$475 initial bid at Gunbroker.com. Final price $575, winner is me for a NIB Yugo M-90.

Ignore all prices at GunsAmerica. I mean take a look, you might find something once in a while, but the prices CANNOT be used as ANY kind of a guide. Don't you notice that some of those guns have been for sale for a REALLY LONG TIME.
Watch actual auctions. SLR 95s offered at $550 receive NO BIDS EVER. Watch what people ask for their rifle and see if there are any bids. Pretty soon you can get a fair idea of what a rifle is worth.
KNOW YOUR PRICE! Know exactly what a "good deal" is and don't pay any more than that.
Otherwise it isn't a good deal but just an example of how a fool and his money are parted.
Some examples: I have turned DOWN like new Norinco 56s for $700, Norinco AK47s LNIB for $700, BRAND NEW never unwrapped Polytech legends at $1000. I have watched Norico 84s sell NIB for under $700 at auction.
When you see an auction for something you might want and the rifle doesn't reach a reserve price it helps to be the high bidder. Where do you think I get these lowball offers from.
Also, if you REALLY want the rifle, contact the seller directly. I bought a NIB SA 85 for $1150 delivered that way.
If you can, see what dealer price is. For the last remaining SLR96 rifles the REAL price is $399. What's that make a SLR 95 worth? Uh...$399.
Always have a friend that has an FFL, even get one yourself if you have to. I very rarely pay higher than dealer price for ANY gun.
And last but not least: AKs are the ABSOLUTE DOGS of the gun market. Yep, it's true, the things are EXTREMELY hard to sell. You can use that to your advantage if you only realise that.
Hope that helps.
Regards,
Mike

Valmet M76 I can't believe you got a Yugo M90 NIB for $575. Thats about what Mitchell was selling those things for back in the 80s if I remember corectly. How does it shoot? How about accuracy?
Damn! is all I can say.
