Have found a stash of LC mixed 308 brass. Question, cleaned,FL sized in RCBS Dies...full contact with shell holder. Checked OAL. Some still will not chamber in M70. I am asuming they were fired in a MG...no link marks on cases...and shoulders are expanded forward....I have to give them extra treatment......any ideas?

Dan, are you able to push the bolt all the way foward or does it stop short? Or, is it a matter of the bolt goes all the way forward but you can't close the bolt?

Steve, bolt goes forward but unable to close. Comm and match brass works fine. I'm just to cheap to throw this stuff away!LOL

Dan, you might want to check the following items:

1. Is the primer properly seated?

2. Is there any dirt or obstruction on the bolt face/extractor?

3. Is cartridge overall length correct? Are you using a different bullet that might require a sight adjustment due to a different ogive?

Just some food for thought. Hope this helps!

All of the above are negatives......same bullet in match or comm cases is fine.....If I run em through the sizer several times, they chamber ok.....still think it is shoulder!

Full auto and shoulder! After all discussion, I dug out micrometer n slide stick! Case should have measured from head to shoulder
1.5598...........not 1.5723....just enough to prevent bolt closure.
The mg ones come to demensions if I run em through die twice.Gotta do some separating.
Thanks for the thoughts.

Depending on how much of this brass you have, sounds like it might be, maybe, worth the gas it costs to take it down to the nearest scrap dealer. Check on what they are paying for copper, as in electrical conductor. Then ask about cartridge cases.

Nah, couple of trips through a Rockchucker puts them back to specs......besides, my local metal and parts dealer is probably a lolife redneck!
