Here's the situation. It looks like the supply of FAL parts kits is slowly, but surely drying up. TAPCO is out more or less, FAC is out of the G1's, not sure how many Imbels they still have. They also don't list the L1A1 kits anymore and who knows how many of the expensive Austrian kits they have. Dan's appears to be getting low from the chit chat around the boards. As for the others selling them, I wouldn't think they'd have a pile to start with given they're not as big as some of the other players in the game. So, by now you're probably wondering what all this means and what's my point.

RECEIVERS!

When the parts kits are all but gone, what's going to be the story on the receivers? Will prices continue to drop because the venders will want to unload what they have BEFORE the market falls out (if it does) when kits become scarce. Or will they go back up again? The latter I can see happening only if the venders made just enough receivers to cover the number of kits coming in, which is not likely IMO.

Well.....?

I think demand for receivers will continue for a while to come. Many people have many more kits stashed away than complete rifles and/or receivers. I find it interesting to note that FAC is still making plans for inch receivers and metric receivers with G1 markings (recently confirmed by Harlan), despite the fact that they are out of kits for both. If they anticipated demand to drop that much, I'd think they'd dump these plans. Either that, or this dry spell on kits is just another scare tactic.

BTW, regarding supply of kits, FAC only has STG-58 kits left. Last I heard Harlan said they'd last for at least several more months assuming current sales levels remain steady. I ordered another imbel kit from Dan on Friday, from what I hear, he'll likely be out this week or next. AIM is still advertising the imbel kits for $110 or 2@100/ea, but I don't know if they really have any left or how many if they do. Gunthings has G1 and L1A1's, don't know how many. I/O still has G1's.

I didn't know Aim had any kits. Never saw any adds for them anywhere.

Whoops, I meant to say Classic Arms instead of AIM. Dunno what I was thinking...

I agree with Brian. So many kits are out there that people will be building them for years to come.

I think recievers will come down a little. Not a lot but maybe 20 percent due to competition and the kits being gone. Although, I wouldnt be surprised if someone doesnt find a long lost stash in a wharehouse in New Jersey or somewhere similar......hehe
