No pics at this time. When I get back in a few days I'll see about bumming the camera...again. I've still got a back load of recent acquires to post pics of. On to the news........
Got my 5 ufixum Chilean Mausers today. Can't put a complete rifle together from the lot, but I'm still happy with what I got.
All have complete bolts as advertised. A little rust here and there on 3, but nothing some cleaning and polishing won't cure.
All have unbroken solid walnut stocks in pretty nice shape. A few dings here and there, but the majority are really quite nice and would look good with just a cleaning. No handguards or barrel bands at all. Most have the other hardware on the stocks, swivels, butt plates, nose caps, band springs. Only one major problem. The stocks don't fit these actions! 4 look like VZ24 stocks I think. One is a little longer, maybe a 98/22 stock. All the actions were tie wrapped to the stocks.
The actions and bores are in pretty nice shape. Nice crests on all to include the two lines of writing along the side of the receivers. One is really nice and retains about 95% of its bluing. The rest are not far behind. There are some patches of rust on the barrels, but nothing to the extent to be leave significant pitting. Most of it will probably clean off and be easily fixed with some touch up bluing. If these had been coated in grease/cosmoline (they're all dry as a bone) they would have survived in excellent condition. 4 bores are mirror and I'd rate as VG to EXC! Only one appears a bit rusty, but even it should be salvageable with some work.
One missing trigger guard, a 3 missing front sight blades, and a few action screws sums up the rest.
If I can come up with some correct stocks, 4 of these should restore to at least VG condition. The bolts alone were worth the price tag. All the rest is pure gravy.:)
