How do you fire the gun with these? Is there a button or a flat bar for engaging the firing mechanism? Sure they'll look cool (though not historically correct) on the .30 but are they practical for firing repeated rounds? I'm getting the A6 conversion kit but would like to eventually get a m2 tripod.

Hear that??? That's the sound of your wallet as the money leaving it creates a massive void. :p

LMAO! In retrospect, maybe this forum was not such a good idea after all! So far I am resisting temptation (beyond my G1 Kit).

Zouave, they're not going to be around much longer so don't worry, soon the temptation won't mean anything.........:sex: ;)

well from my reading about the spade grips........they will set you back quite a bit of bucks......the reviews over at the 1919a4 board give the OOW top marks in workmanship and function, but it will set you back 350 bucks.......hesse get's the lowest marks, no surprise there......as for mounts, I got a post war german AA mount, when I bought my A6...... you can stand and fire it, instead laying on the ground, or in a awkward sitting position......I'm just too old to be playing that shit....and besides that 100 dollars is a good price, v. 350-450 dollars.
I fabricated a bracket to attach a ammo can to it, so the rounds aren't dragging or hanging from the weapon. it works very well.....just now have to find a steel channel, instead of a shelfing channel, I used to test the fesability of it.

I've shot spade grips and they are unbeliveably slow! I'm not kidding here guys. The single trigger pistol grip that comes with the kits is the best to have if you want to be able to simulate full auto fire. Spade grips use your thumbs and they are not nearly as fast as your fingers. In fact one can tickle the trigger with the index and middle finger alternating them and achieve a fire rate for up to 6 to 8 seconds that is indestinguishable from the real weapon firing full atuo.
Spade grips look  but that's about all the merit they have.

yep that's what the tripod is a MG42 AA tripod.......post war manufature........of course you will have to fabricate a mount to accept the 1919.....which looking at mine, all they did was cut the MG baracket off, and welded a bracket sort of like this |__| with 2 holes that line up to the hole in the front part of the 1919.
the legs are adjustable to any height you want, and can spread out as far as you like.......what i did was use white out as "witness marks" on the height and the spread, so I wouldn't have to be readjusting it everytime I set it up.
I like this type of mount because you can stand and fire it, without having to get down in the dirt :). the end of the legs do have a spike on each of them so you can dig it into the ground......and if you need more stabilazation there are hooks on them, where you can hang sandbags to help stabilize it if needed.....but I have found that if you spread the legs just so, and press them into the ground, it isn't a concern.
if you like I can take a picture of the bracket and you can see how it looks...

79 bucks is a good price......here is a couple of pictures of the mount........you probably can make it so it isn't so wide, but you get the idea on how it would look, just some steel bars bent at 90 degree angles, and a plate that it is welded to.

I used spades when I qual'ed on the .50's and they are a total WHIP on S/A.
For F/A they're fine, but on a semi .30 I don't know if they'd be worth it.
Of course it's JMHO and YMMV...:D
