:jump: I'm crazy for CETME'S!!!! I went and shot one I got at AIM while up at Knob Creek MG shoot and this sucker is a dream come true for accuracy! It also is one of the better looking CETME's that I've ever run accross.

The ammo used for the groups was FN Herstal 1971 dated. It's really good ammo but not available anymore. FNM Portuguese did about as good but the group shifted left for some reason. The groups are low at 50 yards as I ran out of down adjustment on the front sight post. I think I may take it all the way out and grind some off the bottom of the threaded shank. That should get it up.

Yes, yes it is good looking and even better it actually looks like it can shoot MOA or better! Mild recoil, mildest of any semi .308 rifle I've shot! Only down side to them is that I think they are one of the toughest rifles to take down and clean. Getting the bolt gack in the carrier and on the firing pin is always going to be a though chore. Guess it just shows there's always a compromise in design.
My home built FAL's don't come close to the accuracy of this rifle. They run 3 to 4 MOA with barrels that look as good as new. This CETME actually has a less than new looking barrel. If I had seen it from the breech forward I would have passed on the rifle. Just goes to show that the proof is in the shooting.

Schuetz.
I can also vouch for its accuracy. I hit Clay Pigeons at 440 yards with my CETME and KAPS scope. I also brought down a running hog at 300 yards.
Its a True Tackdriver.

1. I I thought I was the only one that fell in love with these babies. American Rifleman has an article on the Century ones this month. Good read.

Yeah, I read it and the accuracy they report is in the range of what I was getting. They also had the first rifle shoot way right and sent it back. Century Century Century . . . why can't you guys put a barrel and sight on straight?! Luckily I hand picked this one and she looked straight and shoots about as straight.

Schuetz, I got mine from CDNN....... (I think I got the last one from them) the SOG ones have the illuminated reticle, and are supposedly in much better condition.
Mine's not perfect on the outside, but the glass is perfectly clear.
If you want to scope your gun, do yourself a favor and get one of these. The other mounts are not nearly as solid, they arent nearly as strong, and they dont go back to Zero like this one.
The original is always the best.

That is a pretty rifle. Most of the ones I've seen at gunshows look like they've been dragged behind a big, oil leaking truck.
Hey, Schuetzenman, you need some mags for it? I'm selling some in the classifieds, sight tool too.
Clay pidgeons at 440? Wow, that's pretty good shootin' there CETME.

Sorry man, I probably have 20+ mags already. I had 10 of the aluminum HK mags since last October. Picked up over 10 new condition steel HK mags from Coles at the Creek. Sight tool, yeah I need my own tool, I was using a borrowed tool to sight it in. I see Tapco has them too.
HK claw mounts and Stanag scope combos are usually found on EBAY...just do a search for "Hensoldt".......and dont out bid me on the Binos !

http://www.ipsc.net/ It's about Spanish weapons and it contains a nice history page on the CETME rifles and the FR-8's.
http://web.jet.es/rafa/CFD/ Then there's this it's called CETME's for Dummies, nice photos illiustrations on how to disassmeble and reassemble the CETME rifle.

I am thinking that a Cetme will be my next rifle purchase. But the options! which way to go. Any suggestions people!

Options, optinons . . . what options. It's a CETME or it isn't. Only option is if you're going to use real CETME mags or use HK G3 mags. Mine isn't having a problem with either. Tapco has real CETME slings, I adapted a like new G3 sling to mine. Tapco also has front sight tools, you'll need one.
Well, Century does make camoflage stocked versions which are on sale right now for $349.95. The stocks are good looking but I'm into the original look and besides it costs and extra $65 over the one I got. That's about 7 mags worth of bucks difference! ;)
