I found a Pre-B AK at the local dealer who stated that it was
a pre-B Russian AK-47 that were very common in the late
80's anyone ever hear of this? There are no import marks
on the receiver only a SR#

pre-B? never heard of that......but I'm going to take a guess that it might be a B-WEST receiver.....as for it being russian, he is feeding you a line of bullshit....there where no AKs imported from russia.
I'm guessing that it might be either one of the early B-WEST made AKs,.........or it was built from a parts kit onto a B-WEST receiver recently.......just for shits and giggles, what is he asking for it

$695, I'm going to go check it out again. It does look like a B-west receiver but a couple items did'nt make sense. I
wanted to check it out with you guys to make sure it was'nt a model that I had missed. The guys at the shop stated that they had sold a bunch of them in the late 80'

the only negative thing that I have read about the B-west receivers, is some of them were not heat treated around the pin holes, and cause the holes to elongate......other then that I hadn't read anything bad about them.

If it was a real Russian bring-back in a legal semi-auto configuration it would probably be worth about $15,000.

Russian bring-back in a legal semi-auto configuration? you got to explain that one. a "bring-back" refers to a war trophy firearm brought back from a war.........even if the weapon was a real AK (select-fire) bring back from the viet-nam war.....and say that the guy registered it during the ammesty period, you can't just put a semi-auto trigger group in it and sell it as a semi. once it's a machine gun, always a machine, even if you plug up the third hole.

vspdave,
So, what was it?? Bwest ,or what. Most of them were put together with type56 chicom parts, by Lathrops. Bwest; Phoenix, made in USA- would be the markings on the receiver. It's para military and worth every cent of $695. So, are you gunna buy it?

Some of the early B-West AKs used a Chinese receiver. These were the good ones. The ones with the "Made in USA" on them are the ones that were reported to have problems.
