not to worried. i was wondering because if it is not common i was just going to order an unfired kit tomorrow so i can get my build done. then when we get this taken care of i will have a complete kit to sell to get most of my money back. so there wont be much loss. let me know what you find out.

Are these the kits that Global is currently selling?

I just got one, and it has what appears to be long deep scratch running lengthwise where it was pressed into the trunnion.

At first look, I thought it was a crack, but then I convinced myself that it must just be a scratch from when the barrel was pressed out, because it is a unfired kit.

I think I'll have it magna-fluxed just to be sure.

yes it is the sets global has. mine also has the scratch( its not a crack) now look into the barrel where the bullet goes and look for anything odd there. mine is the only one i have heard of with this problem. it is probabely an isolated case:)

No, my chamber is virgin.

I can't see the cracks you mentioned in the pic, but what do you suppose happened?

well i was lucky to get that pic. it took me 20 pics just to get that one. the cracks are further down in the chamber. they look like rust lines(best way to describe them). they could be deep gouges in the chrome, but anyway they dont look good. anyone else?

heheheh....bear nails. :D

you're probably the only lucky one who got a barrel chamber like this. They might have messed up the chrome lining in the factory and the time has done its job on the rest of the metal. Definitely not good enough to build a high quality rifle. Either build it for a shooter (more like a plinker) or just sell the kit and buy another.
