Will the 7.62 x 39 Saiga accept standard AK mags ?
What about the .223 model, I've heard it will accept hi-caps with a little fitting, is this true and if so, what type 5.56 mags work the best?

To make a saiga accept hi-cap mags, all you have to do is file the mag catch so the mags will lock in and put in a feed ramp (do a search here for "saiga feed ramp" or the like). BUT, that would be illegal. You also have to get less than 10 imported parts on the gun. The easiest way to do that without converting it to a pistol grip is to replace the hammer, disconnect, mag floorplate and mag follower with US parts (US trigger won't work in non-PG Saiga). I would buy a good FCG (Red Star, G-Tech, FSE) and save the trigger till you can do a PG conversion.
