it took exactly 8 weeks from the day i ordered it for my upper to arrive. i was disappointed to say the least. dont get me wrong, Bush is still the best on the market.. i just had a bad experience.

1st) the detachable carrying handle A2 site maxed out at 600 meters instead of 800. was gonna use the Detachable handle for a used 20inch Flat top upper with standard front site post. now i gotta find me a Detach handle with 800 meter sites. i found this odd considering i bought a M4A2 upper with mini y comp 2 years ago and the site went up to 800meters.

2nd) had a 4 inch blemish on the left side of receiver just below the weaver rail. re-blued it myself. this doesnt bother to much considering i'll probably scratch/ding my rifle at the range. but for $700 and 8 weeks of waiting.. i expect better quality control from Bush. u can actually see where the blemish was on pic. right above and behind the bolt carrier release button. thats not glare from camera flash but slight texture variation from the blu-ing.

3rd) now this really pissed me off. i wanted to mount a weaver/accessory rail on the lower handguard for my pistol grip , sure fire light, etc. well, their NEW and improved Heat Shield doesnt have any holes that line up with the holes on the handguard. i emailed bush, and their response was to buy one of their Modular handguard rails for MORE $$$. i ended up drilling two holes thru the lower handguard to make my rail work.

4th) i got a NEW design bolt carrier. dont know if its good or bad. the pic on the bottom is the new style.

I feel bushmaster should've advertised all the New design (rifle)changes on their website. I expected one thing, and ended getting something different.

after receiving my 16in upper. i ended up ordering their new 24in fluted Varmint upper. (sold my DCM upper) i should receive it in 4 weeks. hope i dont get any more surprises. overall, i still think Bushmaster makes one of the finest AR products. i am not bashing them... just conveying my personal experience. so please dont flame me.

I just got that same 16" upper as you, did you see my post about the finish coming off the inside of the receiver? How is the finish on yours?

yeh, i read your post on the ar15 forum. sorry, i didnt experience your problem with the inside flaking. first thing i did after receiving my upper was a thorough stripping and cleaning. i basically hosed down the inside with gun scrubber. then wiped dry and applied break free where needed. Bushmaster has a tendency to over oil their parts for shipping.

try hosing down the inside with Gun scrubber and see what happens.

keep me posted.

thanks in advance,

From what I understand the finish of Bushmaster products aren't exactly their strong point. The fuction is superb from accounts but cosmetically things get by when they mass produce so many. Thats why I went with Armalite. Just my personal preference though.

I have never had a problem with the finish on mine. However i dont go crawling thru the jungle with it, but so far i am impressed with it. It hasnt worn thru anywhere that i can see.
