View Full Version : Vepr .308 mags ?
This is the reply from Robinson on the availability of VEPR .308 mags .
"We do not hany any of the specified magazines in stock at this time.
Russia is scheduled to send us some this month. If you would like one
I suggest putting it on order now so that we can ship it to you as soon
as they come in.
If you have any other questions please let me know.
Thanks,
Logan"
Anybody else have them ?

I got mine at Impact Guns - http://www.impactguns.com/store/VEPR.html - not sure if they have any more. This is one of the main reasons why I want to get the M-14 mag conversion.
BTW- do not drop the .308 Vepr mags on a hard surface, I've broken the feed lips on 2 of my mags like this so far.

Thanks , MACK ! I ordered two for now , @ $40.00 a pop these are somewhat pricey , but cheaper than Dragunov mags (for now).
Does anybody know if the mags could be mailed from "behind the Iron Curtain"/overseas ?

I've seen Vepr mags offered for sale from Europe from time to time. Since they are only 10 rnders there shouldn't be any problems with import restrictions.
At the price of the Vepr mags it does seem that the m-14 conversion wouls make sense (twicw the mag for the same price with plenty of avalability). I'm just a little skeptical of how the functionability is with the conversion.

IMPACTGUNS is out of mags . Anybody else has these ?

Why didn't they make the mags out of a peice of stamped sheet metal like the original AK mags?
I doubt that anyone has ever broken the feed lip off a Bulgarian 30 rounder.

No doubt about it - finding the VEPR .308 mags is a PAIN at very best!
I got two with mine and am still considering the Krebs M-14 conversion. Ultimately, I'm sorely tempted to just leave it alone as a minor "trophy" gun since my G3 is my goto weapon anyway.
Can't understand why they didn't engineer it from square one to take readily available mags like the M-14, G3 or FAL mags. As expensive as the factory mags are, I don't think that making money was the primary consideration since they are almost constantly sold out...
I have an order in with Robinson , supposedly the mags are coming from Russia withe the next shipment.
This sucks!

Some info please?
What is the M-14 conversion, what does it consist of?, and who does it?
Don't know the details , but Krebs Custom does it.

In the local gun shop Vepr mags are gathering dust for year or so now. Some of them are mine, I traded them in after I got Krebs converted Vepr.
Conversion works great after I filed sharp edge on feeding ramp they put in. Before that it worked too, just shaved brass off round fed in.

Krebs Custom Guns (http://www.krebscustom.com/KalashnikovRifles.html) performs the conversion, either for M14 or .308 Galil mags. Cost is $150. They have a reputation for doing excellent-quality work.

Bad news!
Just came from the site and the new effective price for the conversions is now
$199.
(Suspect at the present rate it'll soon be $249...)

Vit, That is correct. I hope you were able to purchase the remaining 6 mags. Great price, and the seller was a great person to deal with.
Got my 6 mags today. I feel lucky.
Thanks to all for help.

Mysterious, I just checked this Krebs web page (http://www.krebscustom.com/KalashnikovRifles.html) again, and the price shown is still $150 (or $200 for the Super VEPR version). Where did you find the price hike?

It's listed on the robarm.com site itself in their pricing section.
20044 M14 Magazine Conversion, Krebs $199.99
Makes no reference to the Super VEPR - 'course it's also dated 21 APRIL 2003 and I SURE DIDN'T see that price on it before the last week or so...
OTOH, I think KREBS should KNOW what they are charging for their OWN WORK...:D
Sure hate to think Robinson is charging an EXTRA $50 to ???? :sex:
