What would be the proper muzzle attachment on a Russian RPK? I currently have one being built by Inrange and I sent along a US AK74 brake to have installed. If it is not too late, I'm wondering if I should just the muzzle nut installed instead. Any thoughts?

Pretty sure for a 47 it is a muzzle nut. The 74 had a brake. These config's are sort of strange when you think about it. Why woold they not put brakes on the higher recoiling round AK47 but put one on the lower recoiling AK74. I can only think it was do to the technogoly at the time of manufacture. As the new AK100 series all use the AK74 style brake.

the Chinese type 81 uses a slotted muzzle brake
the russian RPK uses a plain muzzle nut
the russian RPK-74 uses a flash hider [similiar to an M16 birdcage]
I never saw an RPK with an AK74 style muzzle brake?
the RPK already has so much extra weight on the front end that
it really doesnt need a muzzle brake. [long heavy barrel w/bipod]
:ak:
RPK's were not designed to be fired from the standing position
they should be fired from the prone, thats why it has the bipod
and the "pork chop" or club foot stock, so you can support it with
your hand while using the bipod shooting on the ground or from
a foxhole or bunker.
the RPK was designed as a light SAW [squad automatic weapon]

Thanks for the input. I will be getting the muzzle nut instead of the AK74 brake.
Thanks!
