A coworker brought in two blades for me to look at and help identify. Both are WWII bring backs of his fathers. I bought a CZ27 from him a year or so ago. Anyway, one was easy as I have one just like it, a bayonet for a Czech 98/22. The blade is in perfect blued condition, but the scabbard and pommel have seen better days as they were left to rust a bit. Nothing a little TLC won't fix however.
The other is the mystery. It's a knife, not a bayo. It has a black painted scabbard with no markings. The scabbard has a black leather frog with the markings: PINNEBERG 1940. There's also some cursive lettering of a name above this, but it's hard to read.
The knife itself is in near perfect condition and has a chromed blade, 11-12 inches, a chromed pommel and guards. The guards (I know there's a proper name for them) curve forward at the top and backwards at the bottom and are rounded on the ends. The grips are black plastic diamond checked. The blade is marked: HORST WOLFF, G.M.B.H, LEIPZIG C 1
Yeah, I'd post a picture right now if I could, but.......
Any ideas?
