I finally got it Tuesday. My new VEPR K in 7.62x39. Its everything they said it was. NO FRONT SIGHT CANT! That was a good start. Finish is a nice dark black finish looks baked on with nice lettering. The "k" is very faint and barely visible. No marks or blemishes on the rifle at all. It really does look and feel more like an HK than an AK. I really like the synthetic furniture. Very comfortable and stable feeling. It is very heavy for for such a small rifle. I will just have to get stronger. Overall not a bad rifle or purchase for never seeing one in person before. I got mine for $504.00 from Impact guns in Utah. Nice guys a little hard to get a hold of though. I do have one or three questions about my new rifle.

1: Whats the best tactical sling you have seen for VEPR k?
2: Can you mount a sling swivel on the side of handqaurd?
3: What are the two extra holes on the underside of the front
hand gaurd behind the swivel stud?

My thoughts about getting this rifle are mixed. I like it and it has a high cool factor associated with it but the wait time was a bit of a downer. Mine seems free of any the problems others have had with theirs, so far. I will run a few hundred rounds through it this weekend to break it in and get a feel for it. I will let you know how it does.

Waiting on anything is a bummer.

Tactical sling?

Try rigging like this.

When you have it set up correctly when the weapon is "aimed" at the target by you pushing the PG. In tactical situations, end users usually hold the rifle in their hands, so the weapon is at ready.. Or at worst only lacks contact with the weakhand..

Also, you can rig your own out of 2 slings. That's how people used to make them before you could buy one readmade.
If you look at some of the news pictures SpecOps in A-Land/Iraq pictures, some of them still rig their own..

The biggest diff between what a homebrew and storeboughts can do, is the commercial made ones "adjust" more.. They must fit all sizes of people, homebrew only fits you. ;)

The holes on the bottom of the hand guard are for bi pods ect... I bought the regular ols black sling at walmart and it works great, enjoy your fine rifle!
