Like I told my new wife "If I hadn't married you dear, I would have bought a MAC-10". That went over well http://www.ak-47.net/akcgi/biggrin.gif
Seriously, I hope to get one someday, but present finances prohibit it.

Got to shoot a couple of those Sat, one 9mm, one 45. Lots of fun but too high cyclic rate and poor accuracy. Price IS a bit more reasonable though. FUN, FUN, FUN!

My first FA is my AR-15 conversion RR. It also falls under the 'My only FA' catagory. I love this thing, but I really want a FA AK. Man they are expensive!! One day...

My first was a Stainless AC 556 folder. Also have an AR15 conversion and an M11A1. A lot of fun.

i dont own a FA (PRK slave) and couldnt afford one if i could -- but the first and only FA i shot was a rental at a vegas range, it was a "grease gun" in 45acp (the M2 or 4 ?) - shot slow compared to others but still fun as hell

Powder Springs MAC-10 .45 acp NIB in 1977. Best $145.00 I ever spent.<CENTER><IMG SRC="http://www.freepichosting.com/Freeimage/965402737.jpg" WIDTH="720" HEIGHT="459" ALT="Image hosted on www.freepichosting.com (http://www.freepichosting.com) for free">

Currently have two on the way - a Mac 10 in 9mm and 45 ACP as well as an M-16. Hope to have them SOMETIME this year, ATF willing!
An AK would certainly thrill me but the price is a problem. Yea, I know, they only go up!

Shot an MP5SD last weekend. Man, was that cool. We had an old dryer set up at 100 yards. Tight 3 round bursts on the dryer were no problem. The noises were the coolest part of shooting a silenced weapon. Hearing the action cycling and the thwack, thwack, thwack on the dryer were intoxicating. Could have, would have, should have picked one up in 93. Was considering one for $3,500.00 and knew my wife would kill me. Try touching one now for less than $9,500.00. Probably would have been worth the risk.
I think the best deal going now is the Vector Uzi. There is a quantity discount on 3 or more units for a price of $2,500.00 each. These are all factory full auto parts and carry a 12 month warranty. Most of the conversions have great workmanship, but I feel better knowing they are all SMG parts from the get go.
FNCs were a well kept secret until a couple years ago. Small Arms Review published an article on the ease and reasonable cost of legal conversion and semi FNC prices went through the roof. Have a friend who was into one for about $2,200.00 ($200.00 tax stamp, $1,300.00 rifle, $700.00 conversion). Thats not bad for a select fire .223 that takes AR mags. The article came out about the time he had convinced me to get off my big donkey butt and get started.

First was an HK51 (Fleming conversion). Have some incredible photos (not digital yet) shooting it at night with old Yugoslavian-made Hansen import ammo -- flames 3 feet long! Love that gun!

Wow, sit down and crack open a cold, one this is one topic I can talk about for days on.
Let's get started. First full auto I ever bought was a German MG34. Alot of gun, but far too complex for a first-timer. Since then, I have just about owned everything worth owning at one time or another. Here are my recommendations, based on current prices, of course.
In the, "If I could only have one," category, that would go hands down to the M-16. I've loved them since I was a child, and have ever since. Parts everywhere, controllable, ammo is varied and good, etc., etc.,
Now, for subguns, you'd have a very hard time beating the German MP40 or Swedish K. Both are easy to control, fun, and handy. MP5s are sweet also, but are too expensive, and a little on the light side.
As for assault rifles, the '16 and the AK74 are hard to beat. The AK74 is a real jewel in full auto, but suffers from the same ergonomic drawbacks as the whole AK series. Pick either one, you've got a honey. I have also been favorably impressed with the H&K .223s, but they never really turned me on enough to check them out very seriously.
The only full-size rifle worth a damn is the FAL. They are the most controllable of all the .308s, and are unbelievably reliable. Trick is to make sure you adjust the gas regulator properly.
The next category is my personal speciality. Belt-feds or otherwise light machine guns. Here we go:
BAR: Not a true LMG, but hell, it's a pretty damned heavy rifle! Nice shooter, but mags empty WAY too quick.
Bren: The sweetest there is. Unbelievably accurate for an open-bolt, and is so controllable you just wouldn't believe it. .303 version is better.
MG34/42: Both are pretty heavy, hard as hell to control, and finicky as hell to keep running good, but there's just no beating them when you want lots of lead on target. Best from their tripods.
M60: Forget everything bad you ever heard about these guns. Very controllable, very reliable, just require a little more careful maintenance. But they are a *bitch* to clean.
1919 BMG: Not as cheap as they used to be (which was their chief selling point as far as I'm concerned) but they do seem to run on, and on, and on... They do have lots of different things that can stop them, and you have to know them kind of well.
Ok, now how about a worst of? H&K 21, hands down. Unbelievably violent, and they break parts. Alot. Also SWD M11/9s. Very dangerous guns. To the shooters.
Now as far as "best bang for your buck," this gets murkier every day. Not much is cheap any more. I suppose the Vector Uzis are the best value at the moment, seing as you get a milspec subgun, NIB for about $3k. The MACs are still the "entry level" FA, as they are still the cheapest. Stens are still good values, and plenty o' fun. Cheap mags too. The cheapest belt-fed around is the Maxim 08/15, but they are still quite pricey at about $4,500. But ammo is cheap as hell for them (for now) and they are a gun a hobbyist can really get into, with lots of neato accessories, and history behind it.

I got my first about a month ago, a SWD M11/9. It is a lot of fun to shoot. I went to New Mexico Labor Day and got out and did some playing around with it. It is pretty accurate if you fire short bursts with it. 3 rounders are about right to hit hubcaps out to 25 yards. Its a lot of fun. I fired UZI's when I was in the Army stationed in Germany (German Army used to use them) and they are fun. But lets face it, full auto uses up a lot of ammo no matter what gun it is. Its mostly just fun to shoot them.
Powder Springs Mac 10 Carbine in .45 ACP. This Mac rocks because since it's a carbine it has great accuracy even in full auto. Plus having a fore grip like the old Tommy guns really helps you hold on for dear life!

My first f/a is in transfer right now. A New In The Box Powder Springs M-10/.45 http://www.ak-47.net/akcgi/smile.gif http://www.ak-47.net/akcgi/smile.gif
I've wanted this gun all my life and I finally get to add it to my collection. The one addition I have planned that isn't an original factory item is a Gem-Tech 'Viper' suppressor. Their .45 caliber model of this suppessor should be out this Fall and should make the perfect, state-of-the-art addition to the gun.
Next in line for this coming Winter/Spring is a Vector Uzi purchase. Probably this time next year I'll be looking for a good WWII M1A1 Thompson - and that's about all I can imagine spending on Class III stuff (though of course I'd love more). Gonna build me an airplane after that http://www.ak-47.net/akcgi/biggrin.gif

Last year I travelled to Cambodia. I went to an army run shooting range outside Phnom Pen and got to shoot an M-60, AK and RPG-7 and also blow a russian grenade in a pond. It was the most fun I had. The guy running the range told me, shot low, that's the end of the airport runway over there! He said SOF did a story on them. Great place Cambodia, guns, girls and dope for real cheap! (though i don't care much about the last item).

well my First owned FA is a Powders Springs
Mac10 45 i can hit real good with mine but it
takes Skill though to hit, i mean enough
time behind a machinegun to know how to control them! but that's not my first FA experience M16A1 M16A2's different types of
AK47's now AK's takes a little experience
to hit well with them, i can group fairly well with them. now the PS mac's are the best one's to get if your looking at MAC's
i still have my mac and iam NOT getting rid of it i love that little weapon.
First and only fa i've SHOT was a 12 gauge street sweeper with a 20 or 25 round drum. It was crazy. Within 5 shots I was already aiming about 5 foot high of my mark. Knob creek '98'

I am in the process of having a SWD M11/9 with Bowers can transferred to me. The MAC's are the most affordable of the SMG's and not a bad choice for newbies like myself. I would suggest the M11 over the MAC 10 due to the number of aftermarket items out there for the M11. I think I will save my pennies now and try to get one of the those Vector Uzis before they dry up. Wish me a quick transfer =)

Unfortunately, I live in California so I will proaly never own an FA here.

I love my HK MP5A3 and Styer AUG. I think the MP5 is the best submachie gun.
