Enjoy your K. I'm sure you'll find it to be an excellent weapon, and very fun to shoot. You'll probably be surprised at its accuracy if you've fired other Kalashnikovs before. I have the K in 7.62x39, and couldn't be happier.

Mine is accompanied by a KOBRA sight, and the two make for a nasty combination. I recommend them highly on the VEPR K models.

Where is the best place to get a Korbra sight and can I use a mount other than Robinson armaments?

I think it will be here any day now.......... the wait of a last few days is harder then the months before it......

Congrats on your VEPR K. I've had mine for over a year now. I remember opening the box at the gun store. I was overwhelmed with how nice it looked and felt. I was giddy as a school boy for days. You made a great decision. Enjoy! :p

AV1611 out...

My personal favorite is Tantal (http://tantal.kalashnikov.guns.ru/bstkobra.html). Decent prices, great technical support, and Doug stands behind the products he sells. Unfortunately, Kobra availability has been somewhat spotty over the past few months. Depending on his current inventory, you may have to wait a while to receive your order - which kind of jibes with the whole VEPR buying experience, doesn't it?:D

Yeah the whole wait thing seems to be the case with the word VEPR, doesnt it. Even with the sights I want on it. Oh well, ill settle with the rifle for now.

The RobArms site says the scope mount is not included...does that come as a part of the scopes shown on the Tantal site, or is that a separate piece of hardware I would need to get (I'm also hoping to get a K in 7.62x39 soon).

Please excuse me if this is a noob question :)

Not a noob question, but welcome to the forums anyway, Zaxor!

I suspect that Robarms is selling a Kobra model that requires a separate Picatinny rail mounting adapter (which Robarms also sells, by the way).

There are two different kinds of Kobra sights. The "universal-fit" variety attaches to a Picatinny rail mount (if your rifle has one). It's popular among owners of ARs and other rifles that can be easily equipped with a Picatinny rail mount. Unfortunately, almost no AKs are factory-equipped with this mounting system.

The other Kobra type attaches directly to the side rail mount found on most AKs, and requires no additional brackets or hardware to install. The AK side rail system is designed to allow the optics to be quickly removed and re-attached without losing zero, and works very well. The main disadvantage to the side rail is that nobody makes a scope that will easily attach to it without an adapter bracket. However, the side-rail Kobra models fit it just fine.

Tantal sells both kinds. Most AK owners buy the side-rail type, due to the lower total cost.

You can read up on All Things Optical in the Gunsnet Optics Forum (http://www.gunsnet.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=74).

If you want Russian optics, then Tantal is the place you want to purchase it from. I work in the service industry, and he get's an A+ in my book.:D

I just recieved my VEPR K rifle in 7.62x39mm. The rifle is awesome as far as fit and finish goes. I was able to fire about 25 rounds through it to see if it functioned alright. The weapon works very well and recoil even without the muzzle break is non-existant. I cant wait to take her out to the range to give the weapon a more though run down as far as accuracy goes. The gun is also alot more solid than say a SAR-1. It also appears and shoots more like a HK than that of an AK. I have heard some people complain about the rifle being to front heavy but I think it is what reduces the recoil. Definatly happy with this purchase.

I will report on accuracy when I can get back to the range this weekend.

Oh yeah is $156.00 for the Kobra good with the rail and everything it is new in the box from the dealer that did my FFL transfer.
