I know that you're not making CETME recoil buffers, but I have a question regarding them. The guys on the CETME/FR8 Forum over on www.gunboards.com emphatically state you SHOULD NOT use a recoil buffer in the CETME rifle as it can cause severe damage, such as cracked butt stock and damaged rear butt stock housing. They state the CETME has already incorporated an internal buffer system.

Is this true? I purchased a CETME buffer manufactured by another firm sold by TAPCO and now hesitate installing it in my CETME for fear of damaging the rifle when fired.

Cetracer,
I don't personally own a CETME and can't really say for sure why a buffer may cause damage. It would be interesting to know if this is true, I do know that many recoil buffers will not allow the bolt to travel far enough back and may contribute to jams. If you find out any thing reguarding this issue please post it here.

I have heard from various gun shop owners that CTEME's on the whole are one of the less dependable .308 auto loaders available, maybe it's a tolorance or material quality issue.
