I just bought one of these recently. But the sad part is i didn't realize the bolt was different.Or should i say :o Here is a link with one up on auction.I just thought it was interesting.

Over the years I've owned several Type I Rifles. I've shot them and they were very accurate. You are correct in the statement that Naval forces recieved many of the pieces. One bring back I had the GI told me came from a Jap Naval Infantry trooper.

1. Berreta made a jap 6.5 mannlicher. I would love to get my hands on one. they are hard to find.:D

This is a link to all the Japanese rifles. The Jap Carcano is near the bottem. They were made for the Japanese Navy and Marines.
