E. German steel mags in Vepr?

A fellow Vepr owner is asking if E. German 5.56 steel magazines will work in the Vepr. I'm not sure if these are the Weiger mags that are designed for the SAR3 (and reportedly don't work in the Vepr), or some other steel magazines. Please shed some light on this.

on the picture below you see my vepr with PK stock and east german AK47 steel mag.

the veprs sold in germany are modified. they don't accept ak47-mags.
if the us-veprs accept ak47-mags, the east german mag will work

if not, you have to modify the mag:
the metal lip on the mag that hooks in the receiver (front side of mag) has to be dremeled down to about 50-70% of its thickness.

and you have to add some material on the font of the mag, where the round leaves the mag towards the chamber. otherwise the mag won't feed. a little peace of plastic or wood will do, voilà here's your feed ramp :)


those mags are great... i bought 5 of them for 30 euros total... new, wrapped in paper and sealed in plastic, the paper is stamped 1962
